Amp to Speaker Connection Q?
I just got a sunfire Amp and Pre Amp and a set of Magnapan speakers. When iwent to hook up the speakers, there is a warning about making sure you amp is 4 ohm compatable. Does anyone know the answer to that one? Also, on the speakers, i want to bi-wire them and there are 4 connection port, but the bottom two have a bar between them and above the connection it says “Tweeter Attenuater.” Do i just remove the bar across them and use the Tweeter Attenuator connections for the second set of speaker wires? Thanks again y’all.
the speakers are MMGs and the Amp a Sunfire 2 channel a few years old
Make sure your amplifier is capable of driving a 4 ohm load. There is probably an impedance selector on the back of your amp..set it for 4 ohms. If you try to drive 4 ohm speakers with an amp that will only run an 8 ohm load, you risk burning up the output transistors.
