Banana Plugs
connect banana plugs into my speakers and ampli?
I’m trying to connect my ampli to my speakers (never done anything like this ever before…) but I can’t figure out how to plug the wires in!
The speakers and the ampli have “banana/binding posts” (or that’s what was on the specs) and I’ve got a cable with banana plugs at both ends. My problem is that the plugs do not really seem to fit into the posts, and the user manuals seem to explain how to connect the wires by binding them but do not mention anything about banana plugs. Am I missing something? Should I have bought a female post for the speakers and the ampli?

The binding posts can be used without bananas. Cut them off. Trim the wire insulation back about 2cm and just use them by unscrewing the post part way and putting the wires in the little holes in the posts. Then tighten them up again. Some banana plugs come in different spacing. Just be sure to keep the wires in phase, red to red and black to black.
