Bulkhead Connector
How can I fire 2TBI injectors with computer made for only 1TBI, on 85 Chevy S-10, converting to 87 2.8 motor?
I have a 1985 S10 p/u with bad 2.5 4cyl. My friend gave me a 1987 2.8 6cyl. motor from a blazer. The ’85 2.5 has single injector throttle-body setup. The 2.8 has dual injector t-body… which was not available until 1986 so my ’85cab is not wired for dual TBI.
I have the motor installed and running, but cannot get TBI’s to fire simultaneously once motor begins running. It will start, and it will run with either TBI disconected.
Currently, the (+) wire to the TBI from the computer is “Y”-ed to both TBI’s, and the (-) wires share common ground. I am using my original harness w/ a few added/updated sensor connectors and the EEPROM from the ’87 in my original computer. The computer/harness pins and connectors changed in ’86.
I need to know how to power both injectors, without piecing together a dash, fusebox, and harness/bulkhead from the 1987?
You don’t have a choice but to use the harness from an 87.
Since your vehicle is OBD I, you might be able to purchase a kit to run the vehicle, but your best bet is going to be to splice in the harness.
No…actually, your best bet is to get the 2.5L rebuilt and sell the 2.8 if anyone will buy it.
