Product Photography Tips #1 – Backdrop Matters
Other than having good lighting, having a good background set-up is also very important during photo shoots. Have your object placed against a matching, neat background.
It is important that the background does not distract the main point of focus. It is vital that you try to keep your backdrop simple. This will help avoid distractions.
Product Photography Tips #2 – Building A Backdrop For larger Sized Products
There is a way to build a backdrop stand made out of PVC pipe and inexpensive fabric. Another way to do this is to have your fabric tacked to a wall. Otherwise, you can drape your fabric from a stand.
It is important that you push out all the wrinkles. Have your object positioned slightly in front of the backdrop.
Product Photography Tips #3 – Keep Away From Camera Shake
The little movements you make while shooting in macro can blur images you capture. Therefore, I suggest that you use a tripod to help keep your camera steady.
At times, the position of your camera to shoot from an ideal location of the image of your subject can be at a difficult position. You may encounter difficulties like trying to reach the shutter button, need added protection to avoid camera shake, etc.
Here is a gear that will be of great help to you; the Canon’s remote system accessories. Examples of the Canon’s remote system are the RS-80N3 Remote Switch and the TC-80N3 timer Remote Switch.
Both Remote Switches will be perfect at helping you solve camera shake and hard-to-reach-the-shutter button problems.
Product Photography Tips #4 - Built-in Self-timer
Another way to do this is to make use of your camera’s built-in self-timer. Most of Canon’s EOS and Powershot cameras have a 2 second delay feature.
Here is how it is done; press and release the shutter button. After 2 seconds from releasing the shutter button, your camera will involuntarily capture the image of your subject. There will be not be any blur.
By having this done, you have successfully avoided camera shake form human touch.
