How do I get HD on my HDCP Samsung Syncmaster 226BW when using my Xbox 360 Elite via an HDMI to DVI cable?
My VGA does not offer HD output on the Samsung. When I go into the Xbox 360 Elite console menu I can only change widescreen/normal, resolution, and colors, not HD or standard def. Is this the Xbox 360′s fault, the cable (HDMI to DVI), the monitor (is HDCP HD?), stupid luck, or stupid me?
I have the same problem you’re having!! I have my Xbox 360 elite hooked up to my HDTV via an HDMI to DVI cable. From what I have found on the Internet when you use the HDMI port, it produces an HD signal automatically. I still would like to know if the signal is coming in as: 480, 720 or 1080 though? To make it look even better try to change the resolution on the Xbox menu. Use the highest resolution your TV (or monitor) can handle without distortion.
P.S.
HDCP just stands for High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection, a copy protection scheme to eliminate the possibility of intercepting digital data midstream between the source to the display.
