CCTV Surveillance Systems Monitor People Too, Big Brother Can Be Watching
The common use for CCTV Surveillance Systems is to prevent theft or trespass onto property. That’s the common use; the existing CCTV system can be utilized for other purposes too. Traffic counts, the number of people entering an establishment and the employees can all be monitored utilizing a CCTV system. All of these factors must be brought into consideration when the purpose of a CCTV system is considered.
Many businesses suffer from a lack of traffic into the business. An inadequate parking area may cause this lack of traffic for the customers. Convenient, safe parking is a consideration for many shoppers in today’s society. Through the use of a CCTV system trained on the parking lot, the owner of the business can quickly determine whether or not the parking area available to the business is sufficient to allow for the traffic flow that the owner expects. Should the parking are prove to be inadequate, the owner of the business can, should they choose to do so, establish rules for where employees can and should park to allow the customers greater access to the store.
How many people come into the store and when do they come in? A CCTV system, equipped with a Motion Detector and an electronic counter can answer that question. This is an important question that must be answered since if there is not sufficient staff on hand to help customers the customer will not have a satisfying shopping experience. A motion detector equipped CCTV camera that monitors the entrance to the store can be coupled with an electronic counter. This will provide the data that the owner and manager need to determine staffing levels on specific days and hours. Sufficient staff on hand will provide customer satisfaction and return sales.
Staff are people and people want to look good for the boss. When the owner or manager is present, all of the staff are on their best behavior. The question arises however, what are they doing when the owner or manager is out of sight? The only answer to this is through CCTV systems. When a CCTV system is installed, areas that are not subject to shrinkage should be monitored. Storage areas, break rooms and other places in the store should be monitored to enable the owner or management to determine just what the staff is doing while they are in the office. This monitoring ability allows owner or management the opportunity to determine which employees are truly working and being productive and which employees only look good when the owner or manager is in sight of them.
The original purpose of a CCTV system, which is to reduce shoplifting and shrinkage, still remains. The additional benefits of flow of the public through the store and the employee’s actions and interactions with the public can also be observed. The additional benefits of the CCTV system are valuable to the owner of the store and will increase the profit margin of the store. So now you know why CCTV Surveillance Systems is important.
