Cube Elite HPT 2011 Review
Buying titanium steel frame bike is like marrige-you’re convinced it’s going to be forever. Help to guys from Cube bikes you can get this dream Ti bike for less then sensible amount – £2599 to be precise. Cube Elite HPT is a fantastic bike. 3Al/2.5V titanium frame manufactured with the best craftsmanship and featuring optimized details. So it is up to you – you set the limits. The spec is highest quality as well, especially considering that to get hight quality titanium mountain bike frame set going to cost you al least thousand pounds.
RS Sid RLT forks, DT Swiss wheelset, Shimano XT 3×10 speed transmission and Formula stoppers are just the highlights, check the detailed spec sheet below for more. Frame, tyres, forks, rims and hubes are custom colour tuned into steel/blue/white look. Subtle yet sexy as hell.
It rides brilliantly as well, accelerates with ease yet the self-damping characteristic of titan steel smoothes the rough stuff away and it is snappy as a whip when you hit the pedals – you could just ride it at your local trails, tour the alps or race it, if you like, straight out of the box.
So I put it simple, if you looking for sweet titanium hardtail and don’t have time or simply the cash to build it from custom bits (try to build something similair with budget of £2600 weighing under 24lb!) the CUBE Elite HPT is your best bet.
Cube Elite HPT Technology:
HPT:
The titanium used for our titanium frames is characterized by low density, unique tensile strength and outstanding material hardness. The self-damping feature has makes for a super smooth ride. For our titanium frames, we use the same titanium alloys as applied in aircraft construction. This alloy has an especially high stiffness and material hardness with very high resilience and is used for example in hydraulic or compressed air conduits in aircraft. The tube sets hold high ductility and corrosion resistance at very low density.
Press Fit BB:
With press-fit bearings, the outer bearing ring is pressed directly into the frame housing and not screwed-in as usual. With its wider housing, the down tube and the chain stays are joined with the full width. Because the width of the housing is a parameter in calculating the stiffness, every millimetre of additional width gives a significant improvement of lateral stiffness, whilst retaining the comfort-bringing resilience of the chain stays.
Taped Steerer:
This new steering tube design is more rigid and generates a more secure ride feel even in difficult terrain. Due to the direct power transmission the greatest possible steering precision is generated. With the larger fork shaft the forks become more rigid. At the same time weight is saved due to the absence of bearing shells as the lower bearing is fully integral. On CUBE carbon models the upper bearing shells are also directly in the frame, so that once more a few grams are saved.
Integrated Post Mount:
The Postmount breaking absorption makes it possible for us to save extra parts. The not needed IS adapter with bolts saves approx. 30 g. This may not seem much, but it shows the potential comprised in the details.
RFR Geometry:
Our bicycles with RFR-geometry stand out by their sports character. The riding characteristics, rider comfort and rider safety in particular are taken in account for each individual bike category.
FSS Frame Save System:
To protect our high-end aluminium frames, they are built with the CUBE Frame Save System replaceable derailleur hanger. The thread is in the hanger and not in the frame as usual. In case of a crash, this hanger can be easily and quickly replaced by a new one.
