Deck Circular
Divide a circle by equidistant parallel chords. Find a simple formula to estimate the lengths of the chords?
I wish to build a circular deck and estimate the total length of wood i need for the joists. Heavy highly accurate calculations are not needed
There is a gemometric theorem that says the perpendicular bisector of any chord will go through the center of the circle. (I could show you the proof, but I don’t think you’re looking for that depth). 
Hence, you can esentially create two congruent triangles with half the chord as one leg, the radius to where the chord hits the circle as the hypotenuse, and the perpendicular line through the center of the circle as the other leg.
Thus, using the Pythagorean theorem, each chord will be:
2*(sqrt(radius^2 – (distance from center)^2))
