Panasonic Lumix DMC-G1
This model from Panasonic is the first point and shoot digital camera with interchangeable lenses. It is not a DSLR (there is no mirroring mechanism). The design is visually appealing: they are small and easy to carry around in your pocket.
Nikon D700
This Nikon DSLR is a beauty created for photo geeks. Priced around $3,000, it features 12.1 megapixels, no digital noise whatsoever, a native ISO range of 200-6,400, with a maximum of 25,600. It can even record at 5fps in full resolution, much like its bigger brother D3.
Samsung SC-HMX20C
These guys are known for the cheap low end MiniDV/DVD camcorders and this first high end product came as a shock to the market. This digital camera is extremely light and portable. It can record to SHDC or the internal memory. Also, it can record 1920×1080 videos at 60 fps. It comes with a 6.4MP image sensor, 10x optical zoom and a large 2.7″ touch screen LCD.
Canon Vixia HF11
This flash-cam is another beauty made by Canon. Equipped with 32GB of internal memory, it can also record on SDHC cards. It has 12x total zoom, 3.3MP sensor and provides optical image stabilization.
Canon Vixia HG21
Featured among the best camcorders of 2008, this model comes with a massive 120GB hard disk drive, can capture 1920×1080 videos and excellent still pictures. It is considered one of the top gadgets a HD home video maker should own.
