1 Din Car DVD VS 2 Din Car DVD, Tell The Difference
I have bee asked frequently what the difference between 1 DIN car DVD and 2 Din car DVD is. Now I’d like to sum up some basic knowledge about the two. Hope it can help some friends who are planning to buy a car DVD play.
Generally speaking, DIN is a standard installation space of which vehicle center console reserved for car electrical appliances such as Car DVD, Car monitors and so on. 1 DIN means a standard space which width and high are fixed but depth is limitless, 2 DIN GPS navigation is twice space as 1 DIN, this space is generally used for the installed of the sound equipment console, tuner or LCD monitors.
DIN also refers to a standardized radio/stereo size for vehicles (large enough to accept a CD). The size is 2″ high by 7″ wide. 2 DIN or double DIN refers to units that are twice as high as the standard DIN. 1 DIN is the standard of most vehicles. You would need to use a 2DIN to fill the space in the Corolla, or use a 1DIN mounting kit. 1DIN monitor unit will provide better security since the screen will fold out from the inside, (Out of sight, out of mind) but will have more mechanical bits to break.
2 din car DVD is the criterion of the inside size which for the car audio console and corresponding installation space. Because of the very limited space inside the car, the car stereo is not the same as appliance stereo system which manufacturer can design the figuration size arbitrarily. And cars are manufactured by manufacturing factory, car stereo is manufactured by electronic equipment manufacturers, in the absence of a uniform standard, it will caused a embarrassing situation that car stereo can not be put into the cars. A standard car stereo console products, 178mm in width can not be changed, and the height can be 50mm or 100mm. usually, 50mm in the 1 DIN, 100mm is the 2 DIN. If you need to replace the host when you converted the car stereo, you should base on the size of the installation space to select the host. Obviously 1 DIN space is not suitable for 2 DIN car DVD navigation, and 2 DIN space can be installed in one 2 DIN Car DVD or two 1 DIN car DVD. If only install with a 1 DIN machine on the 2 DIN space, then the remaining space can be covered used by the panel which along with the car.
