what is the most economic speed to drive a car?
I heard you can get better fuel economy over a long distance if you are traveling say 70mph and not having to stop, slow down etc.
I drive a mini (bmw) and was just wondering what speed gives you the best fuel economy eg 60, 70, 80mph?

It varies from car to car, but 55 MPH is commonly the best speed for economy.
With a car with an automatic transmission, you need to go fast enough so it shifts into overdrive if equipped and so the torque converter fully locks up.
This speed depends on the vehicle manufacturer and model, engine size, and final drive ratio.
