The ML 6050 Replacement Toner Will Be Affordable and Very Advanced
You can find the Samsung ML 6050 printer and ML 6050 toner cartridges for under $100. Even though it is introduced as an entry-level device, its performance is on par with laser printers that are more expensive. The fact that it has been dominating the budget sector since its release deserves a closer look.
The device can deliver up to 12 pages per minute, which makes it great when compared to other entry-level laser printers. It also has an impressive 550 sheet paper tray that is more than five times the capacity of any other device in its class. This device gives other printers a run for their money.
It is powered by a 67 MHz processor and 4 MB of RAM. The memory size is a little disappointing since it bottlenecks the device. You will have a hard time printing heavy graphics because of the limited memory. However, you can upgrade it to a maximum of 68 MB. It uses a 72-pin EDO SIMM, which is very affordable. You might have a hard time finding one, since new laser printers use the 100-pin DIMM rather than the old 72-pin EDO.
The print quality of the text and graphics were sharp and clear. However, we were not able to use its 1,200 dpi setting. The printer refused to work under that resolution. When we scaled back to 600 dpi, the problem was fixed. Even at that resolution, the graphic prints were still good enough for the average user. Since this is a monochrome laser printer, it cannot depict color that well. This means if you try printing a photo the result might be a little disappointing.
The printing cost of the ML 6050 is good enough to beat some of its counterparts. The package is even bundled with a 3,000 page yield ML 6050 compatible toner. You can buy a new one for around $100, which means each print will cost 3.3 cents. This is a bit expensive, but you can always use the Toner Save feature when printing text. You can save up to 50%, which makes each page cost 1.65 cents. However, this is not recommended for graphics because it will result in inadequate contrast.
The Samsung ML 6050 printer can be connected via a USB or parallel cable. The two ports on the device make sure that everybody will be able to use it. However, it lacks a Ethernet port for networking. If you want the same features plus networking capability, you might want to consider getting the ML 6060 instead.
Like any other laser printer, the ML 6050 uses 300 watts of power when it is printing. When it is in idle mode, however, it only uses around 30 watts. The printer is also EPA Energy Star compliant.
It has a standard one-year warranty. Samsung also offers 24/7 technical support over the phone. Additionally, you can get the latest drivers at their website to maximize compatibility.
The Samsung ML 6050 is a great printer if you are on a budget. This inexpensive device outperforms most of its counterparts. The high capacity tray and low printing cost are two main factors that make this product highly recommended. However, if you want a photo printer, you need to consider another model since this is only good for printing documents and spreadsheets.
For the tasks it can perform, the ML 6050 toner cartridge offers good value and the clarity and sharpness one would expect with any Samsung toner. Finding replacement toner online at the exceptional prices there may be enough to swing the vote for this printer to a yes.
