Copper may come in 1 inch which is sufficient enough but with 2 inches base thickness it is considered of great excellence. Apparently, the thickness may also vary in price this is done so that consumers may have options depending on the size of their pockets.
4. A tri-ply base is also available when stainless steel is added together with copper or aluminum which may result to a shinier outer appearance and more durable.
5. There is also what you call clad-pans which have extended base up to the sides of the pan which contributes to a better heat conduction throughout the entire cooking pot and not just at the bottom of the base.
