Computer Monitor Turned very dark. Is it broken?
I have a 19 inch Westinghouse LCM-19v5 monitor, its probably 2 years old.
Recently the screen went very dark. I can still see picture on it however. When I turn it off and then turn it back on it will flash very briefly the correct brightness, then go right back to a very dark, non-illuminated picture. I have tried adjusting color and brightness etc but it has no effect. I have also tried the auto-adjust mechanism.
I have plugged this monitor into a separate computer with a separate cable. I am using the RGB cables, not the DVI
Is my computer monitor broken or is this something I can be fixed relatively easily? Can some computer savvy folks tell me what my situation is? Thanks!! 
It sounds like the backlight may be going out, a common problem. It’s not an easy fix. It’s just better to buy a new monitor.
You can try resetting the monitor to factory settings through the buttons on the monitor itself.
