From what I've read the Honda Diesel is getting good reviews in Europe. Why is diesel more expensive in the USA than gasoline?? It's the other way around here in Canada.

Diesel got more expensive here because of the new low--emission requirements that the federal government put in place. New diesels can't be sold in California, though, because we have an even higher emissions standard than the other 49 states. I definitely would have bought a Ridge with a diesel if it had been an option. You will find a higher tow rating if it ever happens.

It seems to vary. At times, diesel is less here in the Mountain states - but the trend seems to be moving to it costing more. :o

It will continue to go up as sulfur levels are lowered in the refining process.

It seems to me that Diesel fuel's price is more stable than gasoline, although it has been going up recently even as gasoline's price has been going down. When gas was above $3 here Diesel never really spiked much, it only went up a little and then stayed there. I was thinking about it and I'd imagine that Diesel probably costs more in the winter and less in the summer because its basically the same as the "oil" used in home heating furnaces. I'm not sure of that, its just a guess. I remember running down to the gas station to buy a few gallons of diesel when my parents' tank ran low and the refill truck couldn't get there soon enough. They're on NG now so that won't happen anymore!
