| Sorry to see this happen, although I suppose it is inevetable when you can get $5000 or more off an American brand. |

But if you try to trade that "$5K off" vehicle - it comes right off the top for trade-in value.
 |

| Honda slashing or reducing output is kinda like creating a demand -- looks good from the company's standpoint, and probably is very solid business practice, but it sucks for those who are waiting for the incentives! 8) |

Why wait? Buy high, sell low. Support the economy. What's a little more debt? You can enjoy driving a RIDGELINE to your second and third jobs.
OK. I'm done being sarcastic, for now. I certainly got mine, just before any price reductions, but then since my timing is impeccable, I invested in technology stocks in '99 and 2000 also. |

Maybe...but it only sucks in the short term for those who want to buy. It is good for those of us who already bought - and even more important in Honda's eyes - that it keeps the retail & resale "value" of their vehicles high. If they were to offer incentives, people could indeed buy one for less, but then they would receive less when they sell or trade, so it pretty much evens out. |

It's not due to lack of incentives. It's because the marketing sucks!
I've only seen the tv commercial twice. I don't remember anything about it except it starts with belt buckles and is shot in dreary tones. If it said anything about the truck, I don't remember it. Thus, it fails as a commercial. Actually, the commercial is so ugly, if I'd seen if before I got the Ridgeline, I may have gotten the Toyota after all.
It has a reputation for being expensive, but comparably equipped Toyotas and Nissans cost more. Get the word out, Honda. It is a better truck and no one knows it. Fire that marketing company and hire the company that did the Mitsubishi ads or the Chick-fil-a cow commercials. |

I think it's just a matter of time. Once word gets out, people will learn that this is the best all-around vehicle out there. When gas prices went crazy, ALL brands of PU's and SUV's suffered poor sales. I think Honda took the high road by reducing supply, rather than decreasing the value of the RL. Sales will improve. All of us that own a RL know how great it is. Most of the world doesn't...yet. But, they will.

I've seen the commercial at least a dozen times (maybe more, I wasn't keeping track). I don't think its a "bad" commercial, though I will say that it could be a bit more exciting. I've been sold on the Ridgeline ever since the Concept SUT was announced though, well, actually, I've been sold on anything Honda my entire life. So I guess I sometimes have trouble being critical of my favorite auto/pickup/motorcycle/atv/lawnmower/robot/airplane company. :D |

| Actually there have been several Ridgeline commercials. One has a group of burly looking guys in the woods driving along in the Ridgeline and a bear blocks their path and the driver gets out and throws the bear a fish from the trunk --- it's a pretty subtle way of saying "hey, this is a rugged vehicle with some features that'll surprise you!" I like that one a little better than the others, but I agree that the word needs to get out that it's a really great truck, not just a honda that can carry a dirt bike (not that I think that's a bad thing, just that the Ridgeline is just so much more than that!) |

I don't watch much tv at all. I have seen the Mitsubishi pick-up commercial one time. It's tasteless, and sort of gross, but it got the point across perfectly. I don't remember anything the voiceover said, but it was very obvious what the message is via the imagery: Mitsubishi is alot more macho (i.e. more powerful, better looking, better cargo handling) than Ford.
I'm not saying Honda should put out an ad illustrating a Ridgeline causing a radiator leak in an Avalanche via intimidation, but there are much better ways of conveying their superior product than what they have been doing. |

Detroit is hurting because of the slump in car sales this last couple months, especailly in truck and SUV sales.
