Thanks to Ridegline 2006 for opening my eyes on aftermarket nerf bars.
I ordered a set of Aries polished stainless-steel nerf bars for my black EX-L along with a Retrax cover. They both just came in today and I'll be installing both tommorrow. I will keep you all posted on installation experience. |

I just posted pics of my Red Ridgeline in my gallery. They show the black Aries Nerf Bars and Grill Guard along with Honda Vent Visors, Moon Roof Visor and Hood Deflector
Install on the Nerf Bars was done, curb side in the rain with a box wrench and a beer or two...that easy. |

How sturdy are they? Can you safely stand on them or are they just for looks? I had similar ones on my MDX and they were real sturdy, but they were the Acura Sidesteps so I would expect them to be functional. The Aries bars look very sturdy, so I'd guess they'd be just as good as the ones I had on the MDX.
Oh yeah, and where did you guys get them? On-line? |

| Yes you can stand on them. I did buy mine through an online retailer...however...I can't recommend them. Any problems that come up have been met with excuses and accusations. If the product is OK so is the retailer. Check the feedback on ebay to compare the sellers of these accessories..... you'll know which one. Just avoid the moron! |

or, if you ask me, "root" 8)
I'll check ebay, but there's also a link in another thread to an Aries retailer...I'll look for that one, too!
EDIT: Truckxccessory.com has them for $179 plus $48 shippng. Is that a good deal? |

| Just checking...."root beer" and "$227 from truckxccessory.com" are both wise choices? i.e. $227 is a good price in your opinion? |

| That's a great looking truck! I especially like the way the nerf bars look with the front lower trim. I have the roof rack which has the aluminum look. I wonder if the chrome look side steps would look okay on mine. Any opinions? |

I would say that everyone has their own individual look that they're trying to achieve in order to have a true personalized ride. Why else is the aftermarket booming? Nobody wants to have the exact same car or truck that their neighbouir has.
Since I installed the chrome bumper strips and lower front trim, I realized that I should have continued that look some more. I looked at the Chevy Avalanche and saw a similarity on a black model with chrome bumper ends (F/R) and chrome side steps. That's why I opted for the Chrome look on the side steps (Thanks to you Ridgeline2006). Next year, I may just lurch for some chrome 20's to finalize the chrome look.
I did see a Ridgeline with the factory aluminum roof rack as well as the aluminum factory side steps and it looked very clean since the mags are the same color.
Now, can you please tell me where I can find chrome outside mirror covers for the Ridgeline? I promise, I'll stop after this...I swear!! |

I don't know where you can find the chrome mirror covers, but you might consider group therapy :D :D :D
I liked the honda aluminum side steps until I saw them "one too many times" and started to see them as too large or something...can't quite put my finger on it, but they look clunky or something. Again, that's just my less than two cents worth.
I'm leaning towards black side steps/nerf bars at this time...maybe I'll order them for myself for Christmas -- it is that time of year isn't it?! 8) |

Black nerfs are definitely nice. The only problem we have here in Montreal is that after one typical winter with road salt & gravel, the bars are completely corroded. The same happens with the chromed nerf bars as the steel underneath the chrome plating also corrodes.
You guys down in Wisconsin probably don't have this problem so your choice of going with black bars makes good sense.
Because the stainless-steel units that Aries makes have three mounting brackets on each side, I opted to spray the black brackets with black undercoating spray to prolong their protection to corrosion. |

| I'm actually in Florida, with my heart in Wisco! I hear ya on the salt and gravel damage! I think they'd be safe here in South Florida -- not much road salt used in this area! |
