Did anyone besides me read the specs for the RL's that were shown at SEMA. One of them says that it will have a JET chip and a Gibson exhaust. I checked the corresponding websites and nothing, not even in the NEWS sections. I can't wait to see the specs on these...if they are 50 state legal then you can mod w/o fear of warranty issues.

here's a link:

Sounds good!!! But I am sorry that grille is just UGLY in my opinion.I saw material like that at Home Depot and we used to have it for the middle of radiator covers for the house in like 1976 LOL!!!

The ECM in the Ridgeline can't be chipped per se, so JET's product is probably more of a plug-in programmer thingy. Since the Ridgeline uses drive-by-wire (more appropriately called "torque demand") I don't expect any of the current crop of aftermarket plug 'n play ECMs (AEM, Hondata, et al) will work.

One great thing about remapping a torque-demand ECM is that the performance versions usually reduce throttle smoothing, so it makes the vehicle feel peppier. However you pay the price in fuel economy.

I agree with the grille comment, that thing is nasty.

Scott- I am aware that the ecm can't be chipped, I was just calling it what the article did...a chip. I would hope that it was a programmer of some sort, so that tire size and such could be adjusted.

I wonder if the tire size would be adjustable on the Ridgeline, since the VTEC engagement is cued from the speed sensor.

What? VTEC engagement is based on the RPM's of the engine.

Yes it is based on engine speed. I believe it is at 3750rpm. Don't have my service manual with me now.

Engine RPM is only part of the equation. Load is also considered as is vehicle speed. (IE. No VTEC if you're in neutral and revving the engine.)

Also, the VTEC engagement point is not a constant RPM. It changes according to vehicle speed, engine speed and engine load. IE. If you're decelerating from redline, no VTEC.

The system also advances and retards cam timing in addition to switching lobe profiles.

If ya don't believe me, unplug your VSS and go for a drive. You'll find you have a new (and very low) rev limit. Might not even get out of 1st gear!

I don't like the grill or the wheels, but the stance of that truck is simply bad ass. I bet the handling is greatly improved as well.
