Topic: Can I use Sirius with NAV in RTL

Answer: YES

How:A simple pinout converter.

Below I have attached some JPG files that provide the System Overview, System Description, Audio Unit Connectors for I/O, Cable Pin Out, XM receiver I/O, and the Circuit Diagram for the Honda Ridgeline 2006 RTL with NAV and Without.

It looks simple to me to create a cable that can connect to the Pioneer IP BUS for Sirius instead of XM. We need an 11 PIN to 14 PIN adaptor. I would make it but I do not know all of the electrical symbols. I hope someone else in this form does.

Please let me know. I want SIRIUS. Nothing againts XM, but I prefer Sirius. It should be a choice, not a lack of options. I hope thes files can help us all. Ican ony post the first 3 of 9. if you need higher resolutions images please or the other 6 images please let me know.

Sirius "a choice" for everyone HONDA owner.

Thanks

It's not so much a lack of options as Honda Maximising profit. Honda owns 10% of XM Radio.

XM hooks into the B connector as follows:

B9 - ECU2 BUS +
B10 - ECU2 BUS -
B3 - ECU2 BUS SHIELDED WIRE
B11 - GA-NET GND
B2 - GA-NET SYSTEM ACC
B6 - AUD L +
B14 - AUD L -
B5 - AUD R+
B13 - AUD R-
B4 - AUD SHILELDED WIRE

The GA-NET bus is used thought the audio components in the ridgeline. The ECU2 bus looks like it is specific to the XM component. I have no idea how these serial busses communicate, so it is possible that the Sirius speaks a different language. Anyone know?

Where did you get these diagrams?

I did some research. The GA-NET bus is what controls the XM unit and sends text to the display for channels and stuff. I can't figure out what the ECU2 bus does. GA-NET is proprietary for HONDA and is the reason we have to pay so much for their stupid adapters. All audio and navigation units communicate together over the GA-NET bus. Unless your sirius adapter is specific to GA-NET protocol, you won't be able to interact with the unit. You could, however, possibly feed the deck audio from this device through the XM port (like the GA-NET ipod adapter) but you would need an aftermarket control unit of some sort to change the channels.

If it doesn't say GA-NET then your Honda head unit will probably not communicate with it. What ever happend to the days when car audio terms were limited to watts, positive, and ground?

The cheapest GA-NET interface board I found is $1000, you could then write your own programs in Honda Code. If you think there is a market we should develop a GA-BUS - Sirius translator. Although Honda's lawyers would take us to the cleaners. ha ha.
