I'm borrowing this idea from another forum I follow (Honda Pilot).
We have a long list of user names - many of which are not real easy to figure out. So if you have a user name thats not exactly self-explanatory, it would be cool if you could explain a little.
I'll start:
I've had mine as one of my email names for many years. Simply the first part of colorado, where I live - and rider as I have been a motorcycle RIDER for many many years.
Your turn!!! |

Lam is the first three letters of my last name. Ric is the first three of my first name (Richard). It was how the last place I was stationed in the USN assigned email addresses. |

| Long ago and far away (California to be exact), CB Radio was all the rage. Since we had a Hot Tub and my wife was a young good looking blond, she chose "Skinnydipper" as her CB handle. She called our daughter "Little Dipper". I decided that I wanted to go along with the water theme and came up with "Waterbug" as my CB handle. The names disappeared along with the CB craze. We eventually moved here to Michigan and the name just came to mind, when I started logging onto forums and such. |

My CB handle was Tightwad!
I know Colorider and 2006 are waiting for me to answer this one! Back in '97, when Yahoo was still pretty young, I decided I would sign on to a Yahoo account to get e-mail and chat (yes, I've had the address that long). BigDave@yahoo.com was taken, so it "suggested" other addresses. Some had a year or birthday strung behind the bigdave portion of the name. Some people think by my Yahoo ID that I was born in February of '69, but being 41 last year, that is impossible. As I was thinking about the e-mail address (and what I was using it for, as a log on to chat rooms), I pondered what numbers I could come up with, because I absolutely had to be Big Dave. In those days the newness and excitement of having the internet led me to chat rooms with a decidedly "adult" content with a lot of one-handed typing going on. :P My absolute favorite "number" is 69, but alas, bigdave69 was also taken. Which led to the conclusion that it takes 2 to 69. THAT Yahoo ID was available. I was also able to get it on mail.com, excite.com and msn.com, all of which I have allowed to expire. I have used bigdave269@yahoo.com exclusively for logging on to websites like this exclusively ever since. I used to use the address to log on to sites that might spam me, but I eventually started using it for pretty much everything. Yahoo has really expanded their content, and it makes a good home page for me (this is NOT a Yahoo commercial, I don't get paid for that). And it leaves my "home" e-mail relatively free from spam. So, to get my log on, you have to have a dirty mind. Or be a dirty old man like me. |

Geeeeesh BigDave, that's MORE info than we need! :)
I don't know where I came up with Ridgeline2006!? Actually, it started years ago when I joined a car discussion site, and for some unknown, and very unimaginative reason, I used the year and car name as my user ID. Since then I've done the same (similar?) thing on several sites. I don't use any of the user IDs as email names, and I don't use the same user ID on more than one site unless the site topic is the same -- e.g. I might use Ridgeline2006 on another Ridgeline site (but I think I actually use 2006Ridgeline on ROC, I can't remember now. You original Ridgeline4wd members might remember I was 2006Ridgeline before the big event but the new site wouldn't let me use that one for some reason so I reversed the year/model -- what a tricky sucka I've turned out to be!). Now, see how complicated I've made this?! It sure would be easier to use my name, now wouldn't it!
Next colorider is going to start a thread asking us to post photos of ourselves -- that's another popular topic on other sites. I'm working on a "not-too-revealing" photo so I can retain some of my perceived privacy! |

Blame Colorider, that's what he asked for!!!!
It's a bitch when you get what you ask for, isn't it?
You've already seen a picture of me, (fortunately not one-handed typing!) and I've already posted plenty of pictures of you! |

I picked up DD as a name due to my facination with weather and my facination has led to an expensive hobby. Currently all I am missing is my very own doppler radar.
Go here and you will see my real time weather site at my home.

About Big Dave I have to agree. Now I question a possible journey out there....
And you CBers, please remember that many in the group may never have heard of a CB. I unfortuantely was one that was a renagade and never aquired a license and just wreaked havoc on the airways. We are dating ourselves. |

What a COOL story. I too have been "colorider" at yahoo dot com for a VERY long time, although not for any chat rooms!!!
I also had it at hotmail dot com for a long time, but let it lapse. And I signed up gmail under it as well. |

I had a handle, don't remember what it was, probably wasn't too imaginative, though! :)

I got mine when I first joined a fishing forum, all the popular ones were taken, like, bobber, sinker, tightline, longshank(don't ask :) ) so I settled for stinger as of stinger hooks.
for those of you who fish might know that when the fish are biting lightly and you miss a lot of hook sets due to short strikes, a stinger or trailer hook might do the trick :) |

I was on the tail end of the CB craze, but I had one for a quite a while, mostly because many in my family did. The internet pretty much killed the CB, though. |

OK, but I have to post this absoute last picture of 2006. He is so secretive these days he will not let anyone photograph him, so I had to draw it from memory. Here he is: |
