Does anyone know the sice of the factory subwoofer enclosure? where I can get one? How much space is behind the backseats? I would like to add some bass to my RT but don't want to lose space and want it to look as clean as possible. I would like to add it all behind the back seats but want to see how much space is back there to figure out my options. If no one knows I will probably take mine apart in the next few weeks.

thanks for the pick, it helped me find the part # but no dimensions yet
part #39120-sjc-a21

Ok, so I have an rt, does anyone know if I have to upgrade my head unit to add the factory subwoofer? Does the power come from the head unit or is in in the subwoofer unit?

Hey Fred, I'm not sure about the head unit in your Ridge, I have an RTL with 6CD changer and XM ready stereo. If yours is similar it shouldn't be an issue. When you press the "sound" button on the head unit is there a subwoofer adjustment option? That may or may not help. I have one not in use that I'd be willing to part with. It's roughly 15" wide X 12" tall and 4-6" deep nestled in a little space behind the seat (the size is just an estimate as I'm not at home at the moment), I believe it's a passive sub (no power required) it only had two spkr wires running to as you would find on any typical loudspeaker. Also, if you want to rip that seat out to have a look, it's a no-brainer, 6-8 bolts and 3-4 pieces of trim running along the bottom of the seat and it's out. Hopefully that helps, let me know if you need ant more info on the sub, I researched it to death before I decided to build myself a box and put an amp where the factory sub used to be...

Thanks bz man. I don't think my radio will support it. I may have to do the same and build my own. I have a couple mtx amps already just have to get speakers. Not sure I got the talent to build my own box though. I would like to have it all hidden behind the seat. I will probably pull it all out next week. What are you running to you door speakers? If an amp how did you wire it?

Hey guys, I apologize it took so long to reply, I never saw your questions pop up in the recent topics list.

Freeridge, I still have the sub and would entertain a reasonable offer. Email me if your still interested.

Jayzorro, I personally am a fan of JL Audio, I put a Slash 250/1 MonoAmp in the space the factory Sub occupied. In the home made box, I slapped a pair of JL Audio 8W3V3 Subs (8" each and about $125 each) These particular subs require .375 cubic feet of air (sealed enclosure) So to make a long story short, with those two subs a divider and a few pieces of bracing, I needed a box with an air space of.8 cf. Based on the underseat measurements I made the box 32.25W X 7H X 9"D. Will attach a few photos of finished product. Let me know if you have any other questions. By the way, it sounds fantastic.

I've seen that thing, it's huge and will NEVER fit. As a matter of fact, it wouldn't even fit under the seat.
