No, I'm not going away - but with the site growing every day, there is now a need to add a second moderator. This will help a GREAT deal for those occasions when I'm on vacation or otherwise unable to check the site every now and then.

I have a very complete list of the responsibilities of a Moderator that I can supply later. For now, here is a brief overview:

The Responsibilities Of A Board Moderator
More than doing anything else the Moderator is responsible for maintaining interest in, and activity on, a board. You will also have the ability to modify, move, and delete all posts on your board. This ability must be handled with responsibility. The users and staff are trusting you with that power and responsibility, please weald it wisely.

Moderators also have the responsibility to keep harmful or offensive posts and people out of their boards. What we mean when we say "harmful or offensive" is material that is unequivocally an abuse of the system itself, the exploitation for commercial gain or malicious intent of the congregation of the membership general and our ability to freely communicate. We mean blatant advertisements, multiple posts with identical content ("bombing" or "spamming" or "cross-posting"), or attacks against members that have been written by individuals whose only reason for being here seems to be to attack.

==================

There you have it. What I'd like are volunteers and/or nominations. When we have a list of names, I will set up a poll and we will all vote.

Let the campaign begin!!!!

:D

Good move colorider, many thanks for the great job you are doing. 24-7-365 has got to be an overload, am sure when you take time off it's well deserved.
I would like to put bigdave269 on the nomination list.

PS: Just my 02 must say that the odd troll that shows up now and then (to slam the Ridge) can be quite spicy entertainment the way the board members step up to the plate.

Thanks, CR-V! I love this site about as much as I love my truck, so that's saying something. I'd be happy to do it.

Make sure any other nominees want the responsibility, Colorider!

My nomination? 2006, if he will do it.

I also nominate BigDave. I believe he would continue to be an asset to this site and be a great mod as well!

Although, there are others who coud be just as good -- CR-V, what about you?

Colorider -- you're a fantastic moderator, looking for assistance is just one more element of proof!

Dam it ridgeline 2006 I'am glad your back (but I did have a hunch you were lurking in the background keeping watch) thanks for the MID I would have to decline a moderator postion, just don't feel that my computer skill would warrant it. colorider a question for you, is there a limit to the number of moderaters on a forum?? If ridgeline 2006 is not on the list please add him. I seems to me when this site takes a hit it's during a holiday period.

You do not have to have a lot of computer skills to be a moderator. And with your excellent ability to dig up all those cool articles and reviews of the RidgeLine - I don't think you are lacking!!!

The number of moderators really is a function of need based on how large the forum and the amount of activity. We NEED another Mod and even two more wouldn't hurt as there are times when more than one of us could be out of town for an extended time.

I'm going to give the thread another couple days and then post a poll - probably about March 1st.

As of now, it looks like we have 3 EXCELLENT names in the offering:
BigDave
CR-V
RidgeLine2006

Any others??

:D

I've just gotta say, guys, if it were up to me I'd eliminate that '06' guy if for no other reason than his recent hiatus! Seems like a hot-head!

Add CoolCat to that list and we'd have the Midwest covered!

No - not good enough. When I was "elected" as a moderator on the Pilot forum, I had just returned from a little hiatus as well!!!

Cool on CoolCat. We now have 4 nominees!!!

I'm going to post a poll tomorrow (March 1st) for our vote.

BTW, my buddy 2006 will not be allowed to count the votes (and not because he is a candidate)............

Thanks for the nomination Ridgeline2006 and BigDave269! I don't think I'd be able to be as active a moderator as colorider is, but it would be an honor to be "elected", and I'd do my best.

I need simple rules and an easy to use voting machine, otherwise I might be disenfranchised! 8)
