I didn't even see this coming until a week ago (well, maybe a little). After a lot of thinking and re-thinking, we have sold the RidgeLine. I delivered it to the stealer this morning and picked up a demo to drive for a week or so until our new Camry Hybrid arrives.

It was a HUGE decision as we LOVE the RidgeLine, but going forward, feel we can do fine with a sedan again - although we will likely buy a small utility trailer as time goes on for those few times when we need to haul a few items. The fuel thing is not going to get better in our lifetime and I want to own a vehicle that we are not always reluctant to drive because of the mileage and associated cost. The tax credit now being offered adds a little icing to the cake.

I will still visit the RidgeLine forum, but will most likely slowly participate less and less. My buddy Dave has really stepped to the plate to help on moderating duties and my old friend 2006 helps keep it all on an even keel as well.

It's been a GREAT ride, both the RidgeLine and the wonderful members of this forum over the last 14 months.

Thanks! I'm sure there are a few here that are interested how the hybrid works out, so I'll post some updates.

See, Rod, you should have waited for the Hybrid Ridgeline!!! I know you're still going to be lurking, and being a Ridgeline owner for a year makes you an honorary Ridgeliner for life. Just check in once in a while, and I'll be watching the forum for you...

If you ever make it SoCal, drop a line, and I'll give you a ride in my Ridge for old time's sake.

Do you think there is any chance Mother Honda will offer a hybrid RidgeLine? I saw a TV ad for the new Chevy hybrid.

Sooner or later you'd think there'd have to be a hybrid pilot/mdx to compete with the other hybrid suv's out there, so a hybrid Ridgeline shouldn't be too much of a stretch.

PS Great to hear from you, Rod! :)

Yes, I agree.

Thanks - I just got back yesterday from my 4300 mile motorcycle trip to the right coast. LOTS of rain - but had a GREAT time!!!

Hey, Colorider, welcome back! Been slow on the site the last week or so....

2006 is right. I bet Honda will have at least a Hybrid Pilot soon enough, although I think it will likely be the MDX that gets it first to match the Lexus. The Ridgeline would be a natural progression.

I saw a news spot on TV interviewing some Honda engineer about the Civic CNG car. He was talking about Honda's design philosophy being that driving an alternative fuel vehicle should be exactly like driving any other car. That's why the Civic CNG and Hybrid are the same design as the Gasoline Civic. I think that's a great idea. It will make more people likely to buy it if they don't have to learn all new gagetry.

Thanks!!!

I think the Highlander hybrid preceeded the Lexus - so if Honda WERE to follow suit, the Pilot would get the hybrid before the MDX. Also, since the Pilot is more of the "frugal" vehicle (regular gas for instance), I think it would be considered for the hybrid first anyway.

Forgot about that, but I think they were only a year apart.

So, how's life without the Ridgeline? :(

Life without the RidgeLine will be a bit of an adjustment - we knew that going in. But I can honestly say I REALLY enjoy cruising around town in the Camry. It is a VERY comfy vehicle.

I have to say I love my Camry, too, even though my 2005 is the "old" model now!

Hey! This is a HONDA site -- take your Toyota love-fest somewhere else! :)

I just have to say this -- if it wasn't for Southeast Toyota, who has the monopoly on Toyota dealers in this state and some others, I'd be tempted to at least go look at their line of vehicles, but the price fixing and no competition makes it hard to find a 'deal.' I've known people who've gone 1,000 miles to get a Toyota just so they don't have to deal with this group.

In California, haggling for Toyotas is a past time. Camrys are the easiest car to get, and I think you can get one cheaper than a Corolla these days. The last one I bought was for $17,000 and included tax, liscense, leather, moonroof and the 100K warranty. It truly was an unbelievable deal.

My plan is to go back next year and get the Avalon. I'm going to work the dealers here as hard as I did for the Camry.

If more of you Floridians drive 1000 miles to buy your Toyotas, Southeast Toyota will start dealing, I guarantee it.

Exactly why I keep my TWO Honda's in my sig file!!!! 8) :) :D

Over the last month, I have visited about a half dozen Toyota stealers and the only one I was impressed with was the one in Cheyenne WY where we bought our Camry.
