I just finished welding up this bike rack for the bed of the ridgeline. It fits four mountain bikes. I hacked up two thule insta-gators and bought two fork mount blocks. The rack bolts onto the truck using the corner tie-down points. There is a larger picture on my website: http://craigrmartin.googlepages.com

| Here is my homemade contraption using Yakima components. Bike rack rails are attached to the top of the bed rails using special rivets made for installing racks on roofs where you cannot get at the bottom to put bolts and nuts together. When rack is not on truck, only the rack rails and the mounting risers stay attached and you hardly notice them on the truck at all. Worked great on the recent 1000 mile round trip to Acadia National Park and the great bike trails up there. That's a BAKFlip cover under the rack, which lifts off and hangs on the garage wall when not in use. The rack weighs about 75 pounds and stays assembled. |

| Ingenious looks great. I am not a biker but when I relate back on this forum others were looking for bike racks and at the time there was no info. |

|
|
I got a detailed email from a Thule tech earlier this week. He basically said that Thule has NO plans to make their Xporter or other rack systems available for the Ridgeline due to the Ridge's funky bed system. I would guess that Yakima would say the same thing.
So in that respect, Honda didn't do us any favors by not designing a inbed track system or something similar. But that's my only complaint so far after only having the truck for almost 2 months and 2500 miles.
Has anyone else found a bed rack system yet or found someone to custom make something? Oak Orchard Canoes in NY has some interesting stuff, but I don't know if it's compatible with the Ridge. |

| If you use the search function here, I uploaded photos and instructions for creating a in-bed rack system using YAKIMA products and the bed extender latches from the RL. That was posted last year, and possibly less costly, time consuming, and you don't need welding skills to make our rack either. |
