I'm very curious to know if the Ridgelines gas mileage (EPA window sticker estimate only please) is better than any other truck in it's category out there?

I figure the truck is a 'full size' 6 cylinder...so it can go up against Toyota Tundra (6 cylinder), Ford F150s, Chevy Silverado, and possibly the Nissan Titan.

Anyone know or have a link if we have some bragging rights here?

BTW the EPA estimate on the Ridgeline is 16/21

This is the exact same estimate as the Ford Sportrac (smaller engine, etc).

When I was shopping, I couldn't find an American made truck with a FULL crew cab that had a 6 cylinder. If Ford or GM made them, the dealers didn't stock them. I was half interested in a Colorado, but it only comes with an inline 5. A WHAT !!!! What the heck is an inline 5 and what kind of design refinement does a product like that have?

I think to hit EPA mark would be on a very rare occasion, so many factors to get the ideal conditions. Dem der guys are in the lab under ideal condintions and we in the real world. I've got too much lead in my foot for EPA but if I back off somewhat better.

I get crappy gas mileage, I am about to take my truck in and get checked out. I think they just changed the epa test to be more realistic, it is not. My v8 f150 got better gas mileage than my ridge

Mileage seems to be lower now that they are using ethanol instead of MTBE to lower emissions. I can't seem to get my Ridge above 15 MPG anymore.

My mileage has been pretty much the same (17-19) -- although my driving has been reduced to weekends only due to the high price of gas (commuting in the "other" car - Acura TSX).

Ours gets 13mpg if it commutes to work, but we got 24 mpg on a trip a few weeks ago doing 80-85mph with the a/c on. We average around 20 or so, mixed city and highway, but I watch the revs and keep 'em low.

I have never gotten over 15mpg even on a trip to San Diego, must be a California thing. Bigdave, maybe we can import gas from another state

I have a 06 with 16K. I'm getting average 15 miles per gallon.

No wonder why Honda doesn't show the Ridgeline on the commercials of its best gas mileage cars

My overall average for the last 27,000 miles is 16.83 with 35% of that mileage towing ~3,500 lb. On a 6,100 trip in April (no trailer) we averaged 23.05 mpg.

I haven't checked mine lately, but a tank seems to last about a week, just like before. When I was towing the 57 Chevy I got about 10mpg until I decided to not fight it and drove more reasonably and then it went up to 12 or 13 mpg.

My husband is averaging about 19 MPG in his Ridgeline, and certainly can't 'complain' about mileage for a 'full size' truck. Of course, he misses his Prelude, which got almost 30 mpg, but it couldn't hold all his tools  .
We see Dodge's Big Fords pulling up to gas up, and the men in those tell us they get about 9, 12, or somewhere in there for those heavy-duty's. Gotta kill ya at the pump and in the wallet.

Note you have to change your driving habits a bit on this truck. No pedal to the metal, accelerating, etc. Just smooth steady driving seems to please the truck and your MPG's will rise.

I average around 13 to 14 mpg. Most of my driving is in 1 1/2 mile increments. The truck hardly warms up on my commute to work. However, I know I get just over 20 mpg when I'm doing strictly highway driving.

Dave, I think you about the same as the rest of us. Absolute best gas mileage for me, all highway is 20 point something. However around town I average 14-14.5 mpg.

The best ever on the freeway for me was 18, usually in the 16.5 range. I don't think my grille guard helps my mileage.

Dave, I think there's more than enough of us getting into the 20 mpg area to warrant a trip to your service dept.

Pizza Man, you have to remember you may as well be on a different planet when it comes to mileage. Gasoline formulations, emission reg's, mountains and unbelievable traffic all conspire to give us left coasters worse mileage than you down easters. The EPA has always said that California mileage is lower. Not only that, I have a lot of toys that add a lot of weight and drag. My last trip to San Diego netted about 17.5 mpg, which isn't that far off from your 20. And I have been managing to hold the line on 15 MPG "normal" driving by altering the way I drive a little bit. All time worst was 13.9 (not towing), but that was my wife driving. She's the one that can get under 20 MPG in her 4-banger Camry.

My commute home is 49 miles along the infamous 405 freeway in Los Angeles. It takes about 90 minutes to drive the entire 49 miles in afternoon traffic, even though most of it is on the freeway (32 MPH average!). I cross the 405/101 interchange which is the most crowded interchange in the country in terms of vehicles per hour. My commute home also has a net elevation increase of 1600 ft., although I have lots of hills to get over to get to that point. And everything else in SoCal is situated so that it's just a little too far to walk to, but not far enough to even warm up the truck.

When you factor everything together, you realize that 15 mpg isn't so bad. There are a lot of people getting worse mileage than me. But what really chaps me is that California pays a premium over the national average of 30 to 40 cents per gallon. My fill up yesterday was down from the Memorial Day high of $3.40 a gallon to the amazing bargain of $3.15, but the LA average remains at $3.29. The national average is $2.99 with the lowest in Arkansas being $2.27. Quite a difference.

Thanks for letting me rant about gas here. I still think we pay way too much being out here. Shouldn't we be getting volume discounts?
