Hi, I am trying to find information on a aftermarket Tonneau Cover, we like the one that Honda offers but we are not willing to spend $1,200 plus installment. We heard from a friend that bought his Ridgeline that it is cheaper to buy it and get it installed elsewhere.

The problem is I got no idea where to find these people. I tried looking it up in Yellow Pages but many of the people I called said they don't do it. I looked all over the internet and found the covers for cheaper but no one to install it. I looked all over these forums and found nothing that can help me.

How are these things mounted to the Ridgeline anyway? Is it that you have to drill holes or something or does it have a rail or something similar it mounts to? If that is the case can they be stolen? I got no idea what to do and I need information about this so if anyone knows where I should look please let me know.

I was thinking that places that put in Rhinolining or those expensive grills would do something like that but I don't know. I am sorry to ask this question but I hear the tailgate doesn't lock and would need to know where I can get a electronic lock for the tailgate installed. I can't do this myself so please tell me where I should look to get someone to do this. Thanks.

Thanks we were researching the cover and though it was good also. My friend who owns the Ridgeline ordered the DVD. If it works out for him when we get our Ridgeline we will do the same. Thanks again.

Thats for the one that Honda sells, that is too complex for me. I like the one that Retrax sells anyway.

I just picked up the Retrax sliding cover last week while out on the east coast. I had more stuff to bring back home with me than I thought, so I asked them to express it. They got it to me in 2 days which really saved me.

The install was very easy, just remember that when they say use a manual screwdriver, to use a manual screwdriver.

My entire 3 day drive home was raining most of the way. Everything underneath stayed dry, so I'm incredibly pleased...

Hi Chad:

I wish I waited to get the Retrax... I got the Honda Toneau Cover and have basically happy, but I lost half of my Bed Space. I may switch it out next year and get a Retrax...

Happy Motoring

Is it a hard or soft cover? Have you received/installed it yet?

I purchased a Retrax cover a year ago and love it.

Very easy to install.

I have the Bakflip hard folding cover. We just had a serious storm a day after Installation and the bed was dry except for some small water streams from the drain Tubes. I haven't installed the complete drain tubes yet.I ordered it from Realtruck.com and paid $630 Delivered. Easy install uses existing bolt holes in the bed.

[size=12]Wingmaster, The bakflip folds up in sections so you can use the whole bed. The Honda one just lifts up in the middle. There has also been complaints of alot of water getting in the bed with the Honda one.
Also the Bakflip is half the Price.I will try to post pics soon.

I am new to the group. I have had a 07 Ridgeline (dark cherry pearl RTX) since my birthday on Dec 9th. I too am trying to figure out what type of tonneau to get. The retrax looks interesting but how much is it? There are no prices on the web site. I also like the Bakflip.
Are there any comments on the soft covers yet? The ones by Access called the Lorado and the Truxedo are very, very similar looking.
Also, has anyone installed some sort of racks on their Ridgeline? I like the Thule Xporter system. But Thule says they are not yet available for the Ridgleline.
Come summer, we'll be towing a small popup camper with 3 bikes on the camper. We also have 3 kayaks that will need some sort of rack system. Any comments?
I'm located in MA and awaiting the first snow. It's unseasonably warm this December so far. But I'm hopeful. Thanks to all for comments and Happy Holidays. - Larry

I have a Torza soft top and I am very pleased with it. Very little water gets in, even here in Oregon, and I have done nothing to try and waterproof it.

I am an early adopter of the Retrax cover and I couldn't be happier with it. It is, by far, the easiest and the fastest to get into and out of. It sure makes loading and unloading groceries a breeze. Just push the button to release the lock, slide it open, load or unload, slide it closed, push the lock back down, you're done. You don't have to open the tailgate to open the Retrax. You don't have to open the Retrax to open that tailgate either way. Long items like lumber, conduit, and ladders slide under the canister all the way to the front of the bed. It can be made to be almost water tight, but not quite, unless you use extra caulking or weather stripping. A very little bit of water may get past the gaskets on the side rails if you don't keep them adjusted. That water usually just runs down the side bed walls and into the seam where the bed meets the bed floor and then runs out the back. The bed floor usually will remain dry unless you don't have the side rail gaskets pushed up against the bed walls. I haven't checked lately but I believe that the price is still less that $1000 delivered. Installation is a breeze and requires no permanent modification to you truck. No holes! Allow about 30 minutes for the job. That's it.

I bought an Access soft top roll up cover and it works great. So far keeps out rain and snow. The only water that gets in is when I go thru the car wash.
It took about 4 hours for me to install. But if I had the proper tools to start it would have been more like 2½ hours.
It looks and works great. Cost me $400.
