Has anyone installed the USA Spec PA11HON2? It claims to work with the steering wheel controls.
I've seen posts that the SoundGate SNHOND3 works but that is an AUX input only (doesn't charge the iPod, doesn't work with steering wheel controls).
I'm curious if someone has something working.
I have a 2006 RTS. |

I found this info regarding the PA11HON2. I cannot verify it, but this is listed as the main features.
MAIN FEATURES:
iPod interface to connect, control, charge and play an iPod through a factory radio
Plug and play harness for easy installation
Adds additional single AUX input
True Digital Quality sound through factory radio
Factory Radio operates the Ipod just like CD Changer
Use the Radio's CD Changer controls to access and control up to 5 different mobile or favorite play list. Song up down, shuffle, random etc
Access unlimited song per each mobile play list
Auto memory feature - Auto locates last song of each play list
Auto Skip 10+ songs in each play list with factory CD Changer FF button
Auto skip to end of play list with factory CD Changer FF button
Auto Maintain current play list when migrating from portable to in car use
Auto Charge feature charges Ipod battery and auto stops after 1 hour of non use
Uses CD Changer Port, If Vehicle has existing CD Changer it must be disconnected
Charges Ipod when in use |

I ending up buying a USA Spec PA11HON2 from Audio Outfitter.
The price has gone up a bit - I guess I had good timing.

I installed it in my RTS over the weekend and it works great. Nothing useful is displayed on the radio, just a random disc and track number, but the steering wheel controls do work to skip tracks. I'm using the mode where the iPod itself is used to select playlists, etc.
I decided to put it in the little pocket near the floor underneath the radio because I didn't want to put holes in anything. The cable runs over towards the glove box, behind the dash, and up to the radio.
I'm happy to answer questions or take pictures on request. |

Rant,
In my previous post, one of the main features that were listed I found that the CD changer would have to be disconnected. Is that true?? I am asking for the group, I ended up going with the Honda kit some months ago, since I found that the CD changer would be disabled on all other kits.
Thanks,
DD |

| The 6 disc changer that is standard on the RTS STILL WORKS as normal. If you had an additional external CD changer or XM radio then THAT would be disabled. With the standard RTS set up there is still an open input on the back of the radio and that is where the iPod interface goes. |

| Thanks Rant. That is some good info to know. I did go with the Honda kit since I am a big XM fan and the XM is factory installed. |
