Has anyone installed the backup camera on their truck or seen one installed. I am aware that it is somewhat unattractive looking but it should be very functional. I understand it appears on the NAV screen when you place the truck in reverse. I had a Avalanche and had a backup camera on it and it is my belief the it is needed on the Ridgeline. Not as bad as a Avalanche but still a big blind spot. backup sensors would do the job if your truck does not have NAV but the camera system is a little better in my opinion. If you have one or have seen one please tell me how it works.

It is call snake eyes and I purchased on the internet. I can get the phone number to you if you want or e mail address. It is a really good product and he stands behind it. My wife hit the camera with the trailer and cracked the lens and he gave me a new camera unit for free. Display went where the visor vanity mirror goes. Remove the mirror and this fits right in. Very clean and easy install.

what do you think about the license plate rear camera? did you run by that..or know if its any good...i seen many on ebay and some wireless ones..but want to know if anyone had tried the camera out before I add it to my ridgeline...from the prices I have seen (90-199)..its less expensive then going with the 300-500$ ones.

I picked up a wireless VR3 at Target based upon some info on the Ridgeline Owners Club (ROC), and love it. It works well and only took about 20 minutes to install the camera. For $80 not bad and its color. Might save me from running over a toy, lawn mower or some child.

That’s awesome Apollo, I just got the VR3 wireless back-up camera system with color LCD monitor for Christmas and was thinking of mounting the cam on the rear license plate of our new camping trailer so I can see what’s behind us. Do any of you have suggestions on where to tap into some 12 volt power? I was thinking of the four pin flat connector which I don’t use next to the seven pin round one our trailer needs for brakes and lights. Could I just tap into the trailers rear running lights? Thanks folks…

I posted the Snake eye post and it does work well. I have the factory unit on my tailgate on my Ridge and aside from not being on the Nav screen, I liked Snake eyes very much. could put a trailer on by myself with no problem.

How about posting some pictures and some details about your installation(s)?

I installed the VR3 about a month ago and for the money it can't be beat. I picked up the 12 volt for the monitor thru the firewall right on to the battery. The supplied wire is fused at the start of the circuit, so no worries there. I used the supplied hook & loop stickies to mount the monitor right on the dash, between the interior lite rocker sw. and the driver side vent.

The plate mounted camera is powered by the reverse lites in the tail lite assembly, so the monitor only comes on when in reverse. When the shift handle is in reverse there is a clear veiw of the monitor.

Just for the heck of it, I plan to parallel the rear parking/running lite feed to the camera so the monitor can be on when they are. Problem with that is when the shifter is in drive it blocks the view of the monitor in the location I have it now. The beauty of Velcro. I plan to move it just above it's not a ashtray, tillted up above the power outlet, again held with hook & loop. I do not like the supplied on the dash monitor bracket.

I have pics of this and will post them as soon as I can......
