Morning CR-V. I don't think any of us newbees requested the change. I may be wrong about that, though. The Boss, Chris, posed the question to all of us. So, I offered my opinion as well as my fellow newbees. Which probably makes it seem like we are requesting the change because many of us newbees are rather active here. I don't care if the software changes, I can adapt, but we were asked for an opinion. So, we offered ours.

After navigating around this site, I find many advantages to this format versus VB. I belong to several other forums and all use VB but there are advantages to this that aren't there. I had originally thought it would be a good idea but I have since changed my mind.

I think that because most other forums use vB, new comers would be able to navigate around here more easily. Hopefully, easier navigation would result in more new members.

I'm growing more and more accustomed to php, so I can adapt either way. But then again, I have more than one reason for being here so the conversion is less of an issue for me.

I like the looks of this site. Some other sites that I frequent are vb, and I like that too but I like having a variety.

2006 and CR-V - As for the site debate, even though we have 13 votes for change as of right now, that is still not an overwhelming majority of registered users. I put it in poll format so we could actually see how many voted for what. I can't say that Chris would go through the expense and trouble to change with so few votes for change. Like he said at the beginning of the thread, he's not even sure he can do it.

The simple truth is that the overwhelming majority of people that have registered on this site probably don't care either way. But I know one thing for sure, no matter what board software he uses, this is where I will always be for Ridgeline chat. 8)

I like this site. The "other one" reminds me of too much of not good things. I would hate to log on here and not to have question myself if I logged on the wrong furom. Keep it the way it is. Everyone can learn a newness if he/she wants to. You can teach an old dog new tricks, is what I've found out in my life. I do have one question; is there a members list? and how to find it? Tex's Ridge.:D

Hi ridgeline4wd,
I do not see any links to Members List. However I found it: go to your Profile>Buddy List>the third tab is All Members. The list is in Alphabetical Order.

The limitations of this type of site are not in my vocabulary, but the usefulness and useability at thhy is time and level are a-ok with me. I like the recent topics on the side, I like the way the unread posts are displayed, and even if these things are better in the other type of site, I like it this way....but, change can be good, too! Let's hear the technical reasons why we should suggest a change other than (like my reasons) the way it looks!

Just scroll up to the top of the page, you will see it under the masthead:

Home * Forum * Memberlist * Profile * No New Messages * Log out [your name]

Just scroll over those words, each is a link.

I swear on my mothers grave, that it was not on there till now. I have been looking hard and never saw it there. Even when ridgeline4wd told me the same thing, and I checked, it was not there. I see it now. I could'nt start to explain how this happened. I have been scouring that bar for the last few weeks, because I wanted to find out if my former identity was still listed as Tex's Ridge. And it is, but could not log on with that user name.

Chris may be able to reset your password if you still want to use your original screen name.

Thanks Dave, but no thanks. I was not an active member then. But now I am with new name. Tex's Ridge was my user name at the ROC. I'd rather not have that remind me of that site. And, BTW I found out the reason I could not see the "members list". It does not appear unless you log in. I explained earlier, because I am on a network computer at work, checking the automatic log in box does not work, and I do not have access to the security of internet options. So when I log in because I want to contribute something, I scroll down to the posts without looking at the link bar. Sorry Mom, it was my fault. Again, I like the format of this site. Just learning the tricks.

Yeah, signing in would help you. Here's another hint: Go back to your signature and cut the [/color] command from the left to the end of your signature. It will give your signature a whole new look.

There are a lot of features on here that I just have no idea how or what they are. I can have a photo album here? Donate and Donors...no clue. Knowledge base?

I think there are a lot of features that are not utilized as of yet on here. Until we see all of these pieces in action, I have to say (for now) stick with this one and open all features of this software.

We (Ridgeline owners) didn't follow the herd to the Ford/Dodge/Chevy lots to get a truck, let's not do that now by jumping to the most common software. I even use Mozilla Firefox over IE... I'm such a rebel! 8)

as for me It does not matter the software the forum uses. It is the people using it that matters.
