Shoutbox on the main forums page

For those that are new to Ridgeline4wd, present company included - sort of, there is a great resource that does not seem to be utilized often enough. It's the Shoutbox on the main forums page. It's just above the "Who is Online" box at the bottom of the page. It's a lot like a chat room. I always check to see who is online when I log in and I always see familiar names but I rarely see the Shoutbox being used. Actually, it's the unfamiliar names where the Shoutbox can help the most. Anyway, I encourage the use of it. Try it even if it just to say hi while you are passing through.

I've seen this mentioned before but because I go to the "Home" page for new posts..........it ain't there.....maybe it should be?

Great idea, U-h. We found it during LadyRidge's Christmas party Friday night. Works great as a chat room. When there are many members "shouting" it becomes a little bit of an issue because it needs to be constantly refreshed, but that's easy enough to get used to.

'Ya mean just like a real party...... everybody talking at once? right now that sounds like a good problem to have!

You are right though. Once you get used to it, it's actually pretty good. I suspect that it is really intended for smaller groups.

Is there a special night or time set aside each week when we can meet in the shout-box? It's been tough for me to get much 'shouting' going as there hasn't been much traffic. I end up waiting and waiting before somebody shows up. :?

Good idea basils. As the activity continues to build I hope that the activity in the Shoutbox builds as well. It's fun to check in, even if it just for a few minutes to say hi to others that are on line. How about every night at 10PM? I also check in at lunch for a few minutes so noon might work for short visits too. Anyone else have a suggestion?

I assume you mean 10PM Eastern? As in 9PM Centtral, 8PM Mountain and 7PM for us Left Coasters? :)

10:00pm Eastern works for me most nights. Wife turns in about that time, so it's otherwise lonely around here. I could use the good company.
