Hello. I have a problem,I hope someone can solve. I recently installed two 6.5 inch speakers to replace the factory speakers. in the rear doors. After installing the speaker in the driver side rear, I checked to see if the window worked and it went down. But it won't go back up. The fuse is not blown. The power window motor works, and all wires appear solid. I even took the truck to a pro auto window installer and they can't figure it out. What am I missing. The window makes a clicking sound to go down, but no sound to go up. All other windows work fine.

First, Welcome to R4wd tmaxxptm! We are glad that you are here.

Sorry to hear about your trouble. Those kind of problems can drive a person nuts. It usually turns out to be something very simple but tracking it down is the hard part. 'Course, you already know that! If you have already checked both the connector and the switch ends of the wires in the door, I would try removing the positive battery terminal for several minutes or more. It may be that the control module is confused, especially if you had the door panel and switch disconnected when there was power applied. It's just a long shot, but removing and restoring all power has worked to restore normal function to electronic systems many times before. Make sure that you have the radio code available before you kill the power so that you can reset it easily. You don't need another problem right now. I hope that it works or you find another solution without too much more trouble.

Be as patient as you can. I am sure that others will chime in with additional ideas for you to try.

Let us know how you make out and post what kind of speakers you installed and what you think of the results. I installed 4 Infinity 6012i speakers and they sound amazing! I couldn't be happier. They sure make the $2.79 factory speakers sound like muffled crap. The new speakers make the Navi head unit come alive. I hope that you have similar results that make all of your trouble worth it. I bet they will!

Once again, welcome tmaxxptm!

I had this similar issue when i had my alarm installed. With me all windows would go up and down except the drivers side was completely dead, sound would also go out on the speaker. Did you run new cables thru the harness that is connected on the door near the hinge or messed with it check it real good. Make sure that it is firmly seated with all this new electronics one bent pin can cause a big headache. This is where they found my problem. Hope this helps 8)

Thank you for the warm welcome. It's good to be here. I bought my Ridgeline a year ago august and love it. I was one of the first ones in the area to own one, nad now they're everywhere! I also installed Infinity 6012i's and I love them. I will try to disconnect and reconnect the battery too see if that helps. Fortunately it's not snowing, but we do have rain. :(

I don't have the electrical drawings for the RL... but it sure might help if a member of the forum does.

A former coworker's truck (I think it was a GMC) had a problem like you described. His window went down (and would continue to try to go down when he pushed the down button) but it wouldn't go back up... wouldn't even make a sound...
He said that he found out that the same wires that take the power to the motor to lower the window were the very same wires that take the power to the motor to raise the window. While one wire had power the other provided a ground, and vice-versa when the switch was thrown in the opposite direction.
Thus, if one wire was grounded, the window would travel in the direction that it could (with that ground), but, with THAT wire grounded, there could be no power on that wire to be taken to the motor to turn the opposite direction.
I hope I'm describing his situation clearly enough to understand...
In his situation, no fuse blew, presumably because it was OK for the ground to be on the wire.
He said that after much searching and checking with an ohm-meter, a tech found the pinched wire that was grounding, and all was well once it was taped-up. But for the life of me, I can't see how the tech found the "pinch", if the wire (at some point) is supposed to be grounded!
Probably through some process of elimination... ?

Sorry to hear of your predicament, tmaxxptm! But if someone can confirm whether or not our Ridgeline's wiring scheme for the power windows is similar, investigating in this direction might help.

Good luck and welcome to the forum!

tmaxxptm,

There is a window reinitialization procedure in the owners manual, I think.
Anyways when the vehicle key is turned on, and the window switch or the window motor is unplugged, there is a procedure to follow to reinitialize the window motor and switch with the computer in the vehicle.
Hope this helps, and I am sure someone will have or find the procedure soon and post it. Good luck!

Just an update, Thank you for the suggestions. So far, no luck. I tried to disconnect the battery...no change. I have not been able to locate a window renitiliation procedure in the manual. Also, I noticed today that my back window has no power to it. It will not slide open. I will be taking the truck to my dealer tomorrow. I was trying to avoid this because it is an hours drive away and I'm sure they'll charge me an arm and a leg because I installed new speakers. Oh well...what can I do?!
