Hi All
I thought that I should give everyone a heads up on the second annual central California meet at Mount Diablo in the S.F. bay area. The date is May 27th 2007. Last year six of us with our rls met at the top of the mountain. The best time is around 10 to 11 am . There is a secondary parking lot just below the observatory at the top. It is large enough to accomodate at least 50 or 60 plus trucks, I remember as a kid going on field trips to the mountain in a 60 passenger bus, now that was a wild ride on a narrow mountain road. There are no snack bars or stores so bring a lunch or something to bbq, maybe make it a pot luck deal. The view is awsome, you can see the Golden Gate bridge and the city, on a clear day you can see the Sierras, Yosemite, and Mount Shasta 300 miles to the north. The observatory has a 360 degree view from which you can see south to Stocton , east to Pittsburg and Antioch, north to Vallejo, Richmond and San Pablo and west to the city, the Farallons and back around to Mt. Hamilton above San Jose. If you want to camp over night you will need to arrive at the gates before noon. Dogs are allowed but must stay on a leash and are not allowed on the trails. Check out www.mdia.org/parkmap.htm for information about the park. There are 2 intrances , 1 from the south near 680 from Pleasanton/Dublin and 1 in WalnuCreek off Oak Grove rd. I am hoping for a nice turnout.
Here is a picture of our 6 trucks at the meet last year. |

| Just another heads up that we have a meet coming up in May on the 26th at the top of Mount Diablo. The views are amazing, you have a 360? view of the entire bay area and can see the Sierras, Yosimite and Mount Shasta on a good day. It can be windy and cool, but the large overflow parking lot just below the top is out of some of the wind. There is also Turtle Rock ranch and camp grounds , if I remember correctly they have a swimming pool, at least they did when I was a teen. There are many camp grounds, dogs are allowed on leash and not on the trails. |

| Second annual Mount Diablo/Central California meet is coming up next month, May 26th. I have e-mailed and private messaged 47 members that are within a descent drive of no more than 60 to 80 miles except for a Redding Ridge owner that wanted to be alerted of the meet and myself at 350 miles away. I so far have, with me, eight affirmative and two no's and seven maybe's. Five weeks to go before the week of the meet and we may still get over fifteen showing up , that would be nice. |

| Ten days till the meet at Mount Diablo State Park. If I can't leave early on Friday morning , I will be staying at one of my brother's homes that night and arrive early on Saturday morning for the meet. The gates open at 8:00 am and close at sunset. I hope that I can get there before noon on Saturday so that I can get a camp site. I will be staying at Juniper campground, it is at 3000 feet and has 36 sites, it is the closest to the summit with a 2 mile driving distance. With myself there are seven yes and there are seven possibles, with a high of fourteen, I do not think that will happen. I hope to see some of the members from both clubs. |

One week to go for the central california ridgeline meet. I will indeed be camping out on the mountain the night before. The forecast is still for clear skies, high at 83 and low of 56. Good night viewing weather and great for photos of the entire bay area. I hope it is clear enought to see Half Dome in Yosemite Park and if really, really clear, Mount Lassen and if lucky Mount Shasta. I will post pictures of the meet when I get back home.

Even though only three Ridgelines showed, Martin (Dragonslayer) & Larry from the faaaar North- Bill (BeepBill23 from ROC) from the Central Valley [he also brought the spirit of (Too)BooKoo ] - Mike & Marilyn (mwarren2) from the base of the mountain, a fun time was had by all. What a pleasant day and a fun and exhilirating drive up and down Mt. Diablo. We spent about 2 1/2 hours at the summit (3800ft) before calling it a rap. Here's a few photos of the event. Enjoy!! :D
For some reason the photos are in reverse order. Look at them from the bottom up.
