Just took the '06 in for the first A1 service (oil change & tire rotation - $55) at 6080 miles.

Also getting some things checked out/fixed under warranty:

1. Windshield noise @ 40MPH.
2. Front/right/dash speaker cover rattle.
3. Steering wheel creak when pulled/pushed.
4. Center console stain (inside/rear compartment - was a demo).
5a. Hole burned through rear bumper (yes, HOLE BURNED through).
*Left license-plate light out of place. Possibly when the original dealer
installed towing package.
5b. Rear bumper paint chipping at very front corners.

And investigating the possibility of a "good-will" multiplex unit change for the "all-doors-unlock" feature.

I'll let you know if there are any issues.

Otter, how do you figure the burn hole occurred?

That's the best guess another dealer had.

Oh - I forgot that they're checking the security system as well. I could never get it to arm. They think they've traced it to the multiplex unit and it will be replaced. Guess that's one way to get the "all-doors unlock" feature! Was kind of hoping I'd have another "good-will" story to share for the doors, but as long as it's covered...

Otter, make sure they replace the multi-plex unit with the correct unit to get the all-door unlock feature. I'm sure you know where to find the correct part number. :)

Here's how it went (all warranty/goodwill - $0 charged):

1. Windshield noise @ 40MPH.
FIXED - New windshield.
2. Front/right/dash speaker cover rattle.
FIXED - Felt tape.
3. Steering wheel creak when pulled/pushed.
FIXED - Not sure how; done per TSB.
4. Center console stain (inside/rear compartment - was a demo).
FIXED - Don't know what they used.
5a. Hole burned through rear bumper.
5b. Rear bumper paint chipping at very front corners.
FIXED - Patched and repainted; looks great. Bulb installed correctly.
6. Security system wouldn't arm.
FIXED - Replaced a fuse box.
7. Multiplex unit change for the "all-doors-unlock" feature.
FIXED - GOODWILLED! Thanks a million!

Now, I have to relay the norm regarding the Multiplex unit change: Of course, I had to wait an hour and a half while they tried reprogramming it 3 times. If they'd listened to me and just grabbed an 07 manual when I spoke to the service rep the day before, I would have been out of there in 5 minutes. My bad for not bringing the instructions with me. I was finally able to hijack a computer there and pulled them when they finally got it right. Big ups to Burt-Kuni Honda (Denver Metro area) for getting the swap goodwilled, but the pick-up could have gone smoother. (FYI - when I called Ralph Schomp Honda previously to check on the swap, they immediately said there was no way I could get out of paying for it. Result: Burt-Kuni gets my service business just for trying.)

I love a happy ending! Way to go Otter and Burt-Kuni Honda!
