|
|
A Mid-Atlantic Meet is being organized to be held in Bedford Co., Pa. There is a Railroad museum featuring the famous "Horseshoe Curve". This will serve as our rally point. From there we can convoy through a 90 minute tour of the Covered Bridges in the area. There should be plenty of opportunities for picture taking.
Afterward, we can arrange a dinner gathering at a local restaurant.
Please vote the date or dates you will be available. The poll will accept multiple selections. If you wish to suggest an alternate location enter it as a post within the thread.
So that I can keep track of the members attending, please enter a post on this thread as well. |

| I am excited about the meeting. I will be coming from Frederick, MD. The events for the meet sound very interesting and fun things to do. Looking foward to it. I will need info on hotels there. |

| Yes, who are the other 2. Spring is around the corner, 5 trucks is a great start, 10 would make for a fine Meet......Who else? |

Wow! seven voters. Looking good, folks.
Please, if you've voted or are about to please enter a post on this thread so I know who's coming. If you're coming to the dinner party I'll need to know how many are accompanying you so I can make the necessary r reservations. |

I didn't vote for a date..But I would like to make this meet, if at all possible...Sorry I can't be certain yet. Have you set a cutoff date for signing up for the dinner etc? I'll keep checking for new info, and hopefully I can give a definite answer soon.
Is the Railroad museum and the covered bridge tour still in the works? |

| A cutoff date hasn't been established yet. There's still plenty of time. My guess would be the 5th of May for the day of the Meet. The railroad museum, the trip to Horseshoe Curve and the Covered Bridge Tour is still on the agenda. Then, hopefully, a dinner party if there is enough participation. |

OK, I think it's time we started to make some definite arrangements for the Mid-Atlantic Spring Meet.
I'm going with May 5th, 2007. It appears this date appeals to most who have expressed interest.
The itinerary will be set as soon as I can get some inputs for discussion.
So far, I was able to secure a restaurant in Altoona, Pa. called Finelli's. It's family owned and the head chef is also part of the family. Obviously, it's an Italian Restaurant. Mmmm!
I asked for a package that would include Appetizer choices, a Pasta course, Entree choices and a Dessert. The price should hold at about $40 a head. I know this may be a bit pricey, but as anyone who attended the Fall Meet in Cape May would tell you, I was successful in finding a good restaurant offering a satisfying dinner. Finelli's will be providing me with a list of our menu choices next week. I will be collecting dinner checks, made payable to the Restaurant, as we get closer to the day of the Meet. This worked out great for the Cape May Meet and I was able to give the restaurant a firm commitment for dinner reservations.
The restaurant is putting us together in a room to ourselves. I think this works best. ONDLINKS can get a little rowdy!
As opposed to the Cape May Meet, the Spring Meet will not have any of the same sponsorship. This site doesn't have any sponsors and I can't go back to my dealer this soon. Maybe I can for a Fall Meet.
I need to see some serious commitment for attendees for this to be successful. |
