| Noticed my dealership "inflated" my tires to 40 PSI! After sitting for 8 hours, I adjusted the PSI to 32. Ride is smoother now. Shouldn't the TPMS tell me that the pressure is too high? if it doesn't... it should.... |

| Welcome Rodek. Your dealership probably didn't inflate your tires to 40 psi. What they did is neglect to lower the shipping pressure during pre-delivery. The same thing happened to me. The TMPS does not tell you the tires are over inflated. They are designed to tell you that in the case you neglect to check the pressure, that they have fallen below a safe level either due to normal conditions, temperature drops, or a puncture. Tires never overinflate themselves. |

| Since the Ridge is assembled in Canada, it's tires are filled with Canadian air. Due to the current rate of exchange, it takes 40 lbs. of Canadian air to equal 32 lbs. of US air. :) |

| I've found over inflated tires on my car after going to a reputable tire dealer and getting new tires -- always check your pressure after someone else has messed with your tires! Didn't occur to me to check the pressure on a new vehicle, thanks for the heads up! |

| There are several service shops in this area that go by the pressure on the tire sidewall instead of the sticker on the door jam. I've explained the purpose of the sticker till I'm blue in the face and have finally given up hope on some of these "mechanics". Now I tell them not to adjust tire pressures...easier to do it myself. |

| Thanks for the explanation. I can assure you the ride smoothed out wuite a bit after adjusting to 32 PSI as indicated on the door jamb sticker. |

| Good one Waterbug! Yes the Cdn Air is very heavy in particular when the winds are from the south, so you gotta wait for a north wind for the lite version. You must also be carefull as it's not in lbs but filled with Kps ??? |

| Does this mean MPG is in Kilometers too? Guess that means we're getting 16-21 KPG (not liter) instead of 16-21 MPG. That would explain alot. :) |

Yes, good one Waterbug! My war story is that I noticed a tire that looked low about 4 months after I got the Ridge. The 'low' tire had 34 lbs in it. I checked the others and they were at about 45 lbs. As Webwader stated, the dealer never adjusted the shipping pressure.
I wondered about the TPMS not going off, someone answered my post and stated that it only lights up if you go 8 lbs UNDER the recommended pressure, i.e., 32 is norm so it would light up when a tire drops to 24 lbs or less. This answered my question why I did not get a light at 34 lbs. when the others had 46 lbs.
I got two takeaways, don't trust the dealer to correct your pressure, and the TPMS only works when pressure falls below the recommended pressure.
I appreciate the help from all of you folks.

Being the eternal procrastinator that I am, this thread has pushed me to go out and check my tire pressure. I'm ashamed to admit that in the entire year of ownership and 10,200 miles I've never checked tire pressure beyond a visual check.
I have yet to see a TPMS warning, leading me to believe I, too, have overinflated tires. I'll check this evening after work.
Thanks for the push guys! |

| My tpms is annoying, but I miss it when I drive my other vehicles! I am forever wondering if I have a low tire when I drive the TSX which has a tire that I (by myself) plugged because the tire guy said the tire needs to be replaced! |

Maybe the TPMS in future models should tell us when we have an over inflated tire as well as an underinflated one.
Better yet, dealers should actually "perform" the action on the inspection checklist instead of "pencil whipping". Makes me wonder about the other items they "checked off" as being done. |

| I find my mileage is better and the truck feels more stable if I leave it at 35. That small a difference in pressure doesn't affect the ride too much, but I get 1 - 2 mpg more, depending on the type of driving. |

Just in case some are unaware of the physics...
The tire pressure is set at ..... when the tire is COLD! After driving the car for a bit, on the freeway etc, the tires become much warmer thus increasing the temp of the tires & now the pressure is higher than before!!!
REMEMBER there will be an increase in pressure so a few pounds more will show!! Check them when they have cooled down!! :D :D |
