Florida Meet - This weekend Near Orlando 5/19/2007

[Rancehood]

This is a back roads drive to Mt Dora and vicinity. We will be having lunch at the Yalaha Bakery. Then proceeding to Sugarloaf Mountain for pictures. At the end I hope that you will take time to stroll/shop in old Mt Dora and Antique Mall.


Meeting at 0930am on Westside of I-4, Exit 101C and SR-46, at the BP Station.

This will allow for gas fill up, rest stop, etc. We will be leaving here at 1000am.

Drive - Route Directions

1. Turn right on to SR-46 for Mt Dora.

2. At junction of SR-46 and Highland turn right

3. Proceed to 5th Ave, turning left on to 5th Ave. Continue to Alexander then left and down to Lakeside Inn. (Allowing 30 minutes for rest stop).

4. After stop at Lakeside Inn we will proceed back to Alexander by turning left on to Lakeshore Dr.

5. Which becomes Lake Dora Drive, then turning into Main St in Travares.

6. Heading straight on W. Main to the junction SR-19. Stay in the right lane at this junction.

7. Turn left onto SR-19 for about a mile. Staying in the right lane.

8. Turn right on to Woodlea Road

9. Bear to the left onto Lane Park Rd

10. Turn right on to Eichelburger Rd

11. Turn right onto SR-19

12. Turn right onto CR-48, driving through the town of Yalaha looking for the Yalaha Bakery sign on your left, for a nice lunch and European pastries.

13. After lunch approx 1 to 1.5 hours, we will turn left back on to CR-48 just a very short distance. We will make a right turn onto Bloomfield Ave.

14. At the end turn left onto “Number 2 Road”.

15. This becomes Central Ave

16. Go across SR-19 to Lakeshore Dr

17. Turn left on to Lakeshore Dr. This is a residential area be careful and mindful of the residents. At the road split stay left.

18. Turn left onto Camelia Way

19. Street turn slightly left and turns into Citrus Ave

20. Turn left onto North Palm (also SR-19). Proceed to CR-455.

21. Turn left onto CR-455 continuing on to the junction of CR-561.

22. After approx 1mile look on your left for sign “Sugarloaf Bluff” proceed past this and a short desistance you will turn left on to Sugarloaf Mountain Road. (Tree limbs hide the sign)

23. Turn right onto Sugarloaf Mountain Road

24. We will be stopping at the top of Sugarloaf Mountain for pictures. The view is spectacular. Many a car club over the years enjoyed this spot, but developers have started a housing development with golf course.

25. We will continue south on Sugarloaf Mountain Rd
26. Turns into Mountain View

27. At the junction of CR561A and CR-455 turn left. This will be a long drive through the country,

28. Turn right onto SR-561, continuing north to Astatula.

29. Continue on SR-561 to SR-19

30. Take SR-19 north

31. Turn right onto Main St stopping at O’Keefe’s for a rest stop.

32. After which we will back track to Mt Dora by

33. Turning right on to Main St

34. Following Lakeshore Dr.

I hope cross posting from another group isn't a big issue. It would be nice to get a bunch of us together.

There is further talk about heading to Old Town in Kissimmee afterwards.

Try organizing a Meet Robert, there are plenty of Floridians here. Throw up a few ideas for a location or an activity and see what kind of response you get.
