I haven't seen any recalls nor read any issues on the Ridgeline forum concerning windshield cracks.
My husband is BUMMED that he didn't see (until Friday 5/25), a rather large windshield crack appear on the drivers side lower portion of the windshield. And, with a rather obvious 'contact point' of a rock or flying road detris. He is quite upset...and to make matters worse, the truck JUST came off 'warranty' as he hit 36,000 on Thursday evening
5/24/07).
I know certain Honda Elements had a Class Action on 'faulty' cracking windshields.
Anyone hear of one for the Ridgeline so we can get this in IF indeed there is an issue with these puppies cracking?
In all the years my husband has owned a car, he's never had a windshield crack. He is even more upset as the truck sat in our drive way the entire Memorial Day weekend, and the crack looked like it continued to grow longer on it's own.
Obviously there will have to be a replacement of some sort and an insurance deductable paid.
I'll upload a photo with contact point and keep you all posted...especially the cost of a new windshield on a newer truck. |

Very sorry to hear about the windshield problem. If the crack is, as you say at the point of contact with a rock or flying debris, I doubt it would be repaired under warranty anyway. I haven't heard of any recalls or of a major number of complaints of windshields cracking easily or due to stress points with the Ridgeline. As you know, it could have been worse resulting in an accident and/or injury. Maybe the windshield did it's job.
It's very common for the cracks to grow, even with the vehicle standing still. Expansion and contraction with temperature changes could cause the growth.
Let us know of what the repairs costs are, I'm curious as well. |

I believe the warranty mileage has been extended 5%, or to 37,800 miles due to a class action suit on Honda having 'fast' odometers,
http://www.hondaodometerclassaction.com/documents.html?
Perhaps this will help, not sure on warranty treatment for a rock but maybe you can at least present the truck as being in warranty.
Good luck and let us know how you make out..

Unfortunately, if there is a point of impact, then you'll most likely have to take it up with your insurance company.
I used to own an Element and have heard of the windshield issue with them. When I traded the Element in, the windshield had no less than four  rock hit in it  . Talk about a rock magnet!
I thought I have heard something about the RL's windshield problems, but if I remember correctly, that was the first year trucks. |

Jeep:
Correct-a-mundo.
If the truck had a crack on the glass with NO point of impact, the windshield was and is covered under Honda warranty. I had to go over to that 'other' RL site to read up on it over there.
Apparently the cracks are very near the lower end of the windshield and possibly due to the Ridgeline heating elements.
I also read these were due to early production issues and haven't heard this 'on-going'.
With an obvious point of impact, 'no go' on a free windshield.
Again, keep you all posted on cost, deductible, and most importantly, who is going to do the job. |

I had a stone chip on my windshield that occurred about a month after I had a warranty replacement on my winshield. It was just a chip, so I didn't bother with it for a year or so, until I took a trip to Palm Sprins in July. The heat and daily temperature changes made that chip expand to a nice crack that went across the whole windshield.
Replacement windshield through the dealer (Honda glass) was about $660, if I remember right. The good news is that my insurance covered it (AAA of SoCal), and I only had to pay a $100 deductible. I would suggest that you contact your insurance company. A lot of policies cover glass breakage with a lower deductible that they would with an accident. It's definitely worth a call.
And, I am on my third windshield, and my truck is only 2 years old. I hope I don't have to do it again. |

Hi! I love my truck but recently developed a crack on the passenger side of the winshield. This is not a result of a rock or anything like that. I just noticed it one morning starting on the edge of the winshield. I has progressed across the bottom.
I am going to the dealer soon and will let you know the result.
