You may have noticed I have been "promoted" to site admin today. Chris is really busy and has asked me to take over the admin duties. Since I still have to learn what I'm doing, I would like to ask for nominations for a new moderator. Of course, the nominees will have to agree to being a moderator.
I will leave this nominations page up for a week, then I will set up a poll with the candidates you nominate. If you are nominated, and wish to decline or accept, go ahead and reply on this thread. Otherwise, you will get a PM from me.
Look for the poll next week. |

Thank you, mugnpwr, but I really think a member of much longer standing should be nominated.
What about kahnartist, R2K6, CR-V, waterbug?
There are so many that have been here through the worst of times with R4wd and stayed on to help bring it back. Those are the people we should be looking at.
BTW, congrats Big Dave. |

| Last time we did this, CR-V and 2006 politely declined. But they welcome to include their names this time if they wish. I will add Khanartist and Waterbug if they wish. But that leaves the question, Pizza Man, will you accept the nomination? |

Dave, establish a cut-off date for this thread, prior to the poll. I'll decide by then. Thanks for the consideration. |

I'll post the poll next Monday, so any nominations up until then will be accepted.
Just so you know, the moderator has the ability to delete threads that are spam or offensive. He/she will get post reports, and have the ability to ban members. You don't have to read and comment on every thread, but just keep an eye on what's happening. If you check into the site every day (or almost every day), that should be enough to see what's going on. For the most part, this site runs itself (I say that now, but I've never been admin before...). |

I was already moderator of another RL site...that since went under. If Pizza Man has no objection, I say lets get someone in who hasn't gotten their feet wet on the job.
If he can't or won't accept, I'll do it.

Through no fault of your own, I hope!
Wet feet or dry, I have no preference. Dave is going to run a poll next week for us all to vote on the nominees.
So Linda, if you're throwing your hat into the ring:
I'll second your nomination! |

Pizza Man: Wait a minute...I was nominating YOU!
So, I nominate Pizza Man because I have already had a time being moderator at another site.

Gee, I thought I could sneak that in!
I'm still on the fence about this, Linda. I'll decide soon. |

Mr. Chairman,
The contingent of Coral Springs in South Florida casts all its votes (1), in favor of Pizza Man....
Don't pull an LBJ in '68 on us now, 'I will not seek, and I will not accept the nomination of my party for another term as your Moderator'.
Go for it Pizza Man, you're an excellent choice.

Thanks for your confidence Hawk, but have you considered a run for the job? You have as much experience as I do. |

First of all...congrats Dave. That's quite an honor Chris has bestowed upon you. I think he made an excellent choice. I have always enjoyed reading your posts and I have never seen anything less than professionalism from you. Thanks for putting us in good hands Chris.
As for nominating/voting a new moderator, I think my choice is crystal clear.
Pizza Man, you have been a pillar of ALL Ridgeline communites and although I would never take anything away from the knowledge and contributions of Kahnartist, Waterbug or anyone esle interested in the position, I feel your presence is a welcoming light that shines bright.

Thank you for the kind words, LadyRidge! You know I have a lot of respect for the site and all who take the time to post.
For the record, 2006 politely declined the invitation in a PM to me.
I have to be neutral on the nominations, but it is wonderful to see how supportive you all are to each other! |

I'm truly flattered by the previous posts. I wish that I felt as capable as you think I am.
Come on folks, how about some other nominees?
What kind of election is this going to be?
On a side note, I'd like to commend management for giving us the ability to choose who fills the moderator position. I've never seen it done this way on any of the other internet forums I belong to. |

Very well said LadyRidge. I agree completely.
There is one more thing that I think is important to consider and that is the moderators ability to be present on-line as much as possible. When situations occur that require a moderators intervention it is obviously important that the moderator should be in a position to be able to respond in a reasonable period of time.
In addition to everything that has been mentioned so far about Pizza Man, Joe more than meets all of the qualifications to be a superb moderator and therefore receives my strong endorsement.
I will add that being a moderator of an on-line forum, even one as mature and civil as R4WD is, is not an easy task. It certainly is not a job for everyone as it can be stressful at times. Conflicts are inevitable and the way that they are handled when they do occur sets the tone for the entire community. As hard as one may try, it is impossible to please everyone all of the time. I may be stating the obvious but I think we all know what happens when they are handled poorly. Once again, Joe has the maturity, experience, wisdom and the personality to to "moderate" such situations in a way that will allow them to come to the best possible resolution for everyone involved even when tough decisions have to be made. |

That is the way I was picked, so why not not continue the tradition? As for being capable, if I can do it.... |
