| This coming September 29th there is an all California Ridgeline meet in Santa Cruz. 15 if us met there last year, Linda [ khanartist ] was one of them. It was a blast, after the meet nine trucks and assorted owners drove to Carmel and did 17 mile drive and had pizza later. We are hoping to see well over twenty trucks this year with 2006's, 2007's and the 2008's having come out too. It is being called the all cal roc meet by the other club, but all ridgeline owners are welcome and invited from both clubs. The way I see it, if you own a ridgeline then you are a member of an exclusive club. |

Martin, why don't you go ahead and post up the info for the meet here? I'm sure there are some on our site that will want to go.
Alas, again this year I am going to have to miss it. It's just too close to my cruise. I'm looking good for next year, though! |

| The meet is on Saturday the 28th of September at the Boardwalk parking lot in Santa Cruz. Last year there were 15 of us with our trucks and family, eight of us first met up at the summit of highway 17 between San Jose and Santa Cruz. We made it an all day event and part of it was a drive to Carmel and nine of us drove 17 mile drive/Pebble Beach, everybody was staring at us as we drove by in a procession. Someone even asked if we were doing a Honda commercial. After parking at the parking lot, we will probably pass out nametags and do our introductions and say hello to those we met last year and at other meets. After that we plan on taking the train ride from the Boardwalk to the redwoods of Henry Cowell State Park and back, it is a three hour ride through the redwoods, over old railroad trestles, an old tunnel and down the San Lorenzo river valley. I am going to be camping at the Henry Cowell State Park on Friday night and Saturday night before heading home on Sunday. Out of the fifteen last year there were two 2007's, this year should be even better with three production years appearing. |

Wow !!! Really wish I could be there. I use to live in Ben Lomond, which is about three miles north of Felton (where Henry Cowell State Park and the Roaring Camp narrow gauge railroad is located), on Hiway 9. If anyone is looking for a side trip, Brookdale Lodge in Ben Lomond is a historic site with a natural brook running through it's diningroom. It also has a wedding chapel and at one time Bob Hope is rumored to be a part owner.
Another couple of miles north on Hiway 9 will take you to Boulder Creek. From there you can visit Big Basin State Park, which has some of the oldest redwoods in California.
If you are headed back to San Jose and the bay area, Hiway 9 is a 2 lane mountain road that takes you down to the Santa Clara Valley through Saratoga. There you will find the Paul Masson Champagne winery and tasting room.
If you are planning on attending the Santa Cruz meet, you could spend a very enjoyable week from Halfmoon Bay to Monterey or Saratoga to Santa Cruz. Felton, where Henry Cowell Park is located has a historic covered bridge and several wineries as does Bonny Doon which is just up the hill.

Anyone is welcome to attend and it looks like we'll be parking in the large parking lot in front of the roller coaster. Cost: $10 for parking. Then we'll take the Roaring Camp train for a '3 hour tour'. Cost: $18-20 bucks (with AAA discount).
I will CONVOY down from Hwy 17 at 8:30 AM from Summit pull out area. Be there by 8:30 am or so. I'll wait at least 10 minutes for late-nicks.
Hubby may be out of town, so I'll be in the truck.
email me at work please if you can make it:

Hey all,
I was wondering if there are any Southern Cal meetings planned for 2008? Or better yet (for us anyway), any High Desert meetings? We live in Apple Valley, near Victorville/Barstow. If anyone is interested in a meet even a simple lunch or pizza or drive to the mountains or desert for a picnic let us know!

| Last year Tony asked me to pick a place other than Santa Cruz for the meet in 2008. I came up with Sutters Buttes north of Sacramento or Lake Barryessa or even Clear Lake. The thought was to make the trip shorter for me this year and next year it would be held further south. Several Ridgeline owners on the roc suggested other sites, so I started a poll with 10 choices; Yosemite, Sutters Buttes, Clear Lake, Lake Barryessa, Santa Cruz, Prairie Creek Redwoods state park, Tamalpais, Hearst Castle, Pismo Beach and lake Comanche. There have been 5 votes, one for Pismo Beach and 4 for Yosemite. Honestly, I voted for Yosemite. I have only been there twice, the first time I was in my moms womb and the second time I was 22 and it was late fall, we got two miles in and it started to snow heavy and we had to camp on the side of the road till morning and turn back. So neither time did I really get to see Yosemite. :x  |

| What's the proposed dates for this year's trip? Yosemite sounds cool, but we would have to make a reservation early to stay in the valley. Or we could stay in a town nearby and drive into the park during the day. Keep us posted! |

Hi Dave
The proposed dates are September 26th through the 28th. I know that I will be heading up on Friday the 26th, though the meet is actually on Saturday. Dead line for making reservations with the park service begins at 7 am on May 15th and they book quick. Right now there are eight from the roc that are interested in going to Yosemite and only one other vote and that is for Pismo beach. As I get more info I will post it here. |

New to the site :D
I think I can make the meet on Sept. 26-28 to Yosemite. Reservations to be made when there is a go. In the valley I assume. I will keep an eye out for more info from all of you. :-)

Here is a link to Yosemite National Park for reservations. I will be sure to post this on all three ridgeline sites so that everyone can view our options. So far it looks like Curry camp would be good for us as a group, wether some of us have a camper, a tent or want to reserve a heated tent.

| OK so I have never made reservations at Yosemite before. Can this be done as a group so as to get as many campsites close to each other or is it every person for themselves?!  |

I am going to call at 7:15 am on this Thursday morning to make reservations at one of the group sites. The group rate is $40, I believe that is for the first night with each subsequent night paid upon leaving. I will be camping in my tent with my sleeping bag. I will post with more information as I get it.

Here are links to the four campgrounds with group sites. the group sites are for 13 to 30 people. Wawona camp has only one group site and Tuolome meadows may be our of the question due to weather, it is well over 7,000 feet and may be snowed in in late September. I think that Bridal Veil sounds nice. What do you think?

| I'll be taking a peek at the sites in the next couple of days. Maybe we should start a vote as to a site to get everyone close. However, I am sure others will do what ever they see fit for their budget & or their time schedule. I too will sleep in a tent or in the back of my truck or where ever. Catch up with you guys later. :) |

| I made reservations at Hodgdon Meadows campgrounds for two group sites starting Friday September 26th to noon on Sunday the 28th. The cost was $160 for both group sites for two nights, the sites have fire circles and are tent camping for 13 to 30 people and parking for 5 vehicles at each site. If twenty show up for the meet it comes to $8 each for camping not including the $20 entrance fee per vehicle, unless you are a senior or disabled. The sites are A and B. |
