I posted a thread a long long time ago about an annoying noise that I was hearing when I would drive 80 mph or so -- worked kind of like a governor! I figured out that it was the panel that the third tail light is in - the front of the panel would catch the wind and the panel would flap up and down real fast. It would only happened at highway speeds, sometimes 70 mph or lower if there was a head wind.

Well, I went to the Honda dealer and told them about it, they immediately ordered the entire panel for me -- then they realized my Ridge has over 45,000 miles on it and the part wasn't under warranty! They told me it would cost about $75.00 or so to fix it (mostly all labor) and all they had to do was replace the clips under the panel. I know the kid who works in the parts department and when I told him about it he had already pulled the parts and had them on his desk - he sold them to me for about $7.00 and tonight I took the panel off (real easy job) and saw that I was missing one little clip (that was what I bought for $7.00, but he sold me four of them.) I put one of the new clips in and now I can't wait to see if it takes care of the problem. Ten minute fix!

I'm leaving on Saturday to drive to Wisco and back - if it's fixed, the trip will be much quieter!

Long post for a short story!!! Sorry 'bout that! :)

Yeah the other day coming home from camping I noticed a strange noise around the 80mph range. I thought maybe it was just the tires humming kind of weird at that speed. The jury is still out on what it may be.

I just returned from a 3,000 mile round trip to Wisconsin and back and didn't get any of that annoying rattle that I got before -- sure wish I had fixed this a long time ago!

As it turns out I could've fixed this in less than a minute if I had known that it only needed the middle clip that is accessible without removing the panel - live and learn!
