The plastic cover that tops the side of the bed on the driver's side keeps coming off. I replaced the first one after a long road trip. Today the second one lost it's grip.
The first "clip" breaks and then the whole piece of plastic catches the wind and folds over. It is simple to remove (and avoid further damage) and I think it was a cheap part. After two failues in two years I am thinking this might be a common problem. Anyone else or do I drive too fast for this decorative bit of plastic? |

| I have a very early production model and have never had the problem nor have I heard anyone else complain about it. I take mine off when I wax the truck too so they have been on and off several times. It sure seems strange that you have had the same problem twice. The way that they attach to the truck body is so simple I just can't imagine what would be causing it to happen. I wish I had a better answer for you. :?: |

Hmmm interesting... I have only had my truck 2.5 years now & I haven't had that problem either. I drive about 75-80 almost all the time too!! How fast are you driving bye the way??? Ssssh don't tell anyone but, I have even been up to 95-100 in the desert & no problems with the liner stuff. I wonder if they made a slight change in the later model of the 06 trucks??!!
I didn't think about taking them off to wax the truck but, I will next time!! Thanks for that tid bit of info ULTRA-HOG :-) |

Here is a thread in another forum about this:

| Yep, ours was starting to come off but not flapping. The truck was new then. We stay very close to the speed limit. Ours is a 6/05 production date. The dealer fixed it once and no more trouble. |

| No problems. 37 months, 46K miles. The rails have been removed at least twice. Once by LineX for the spray on. And once (drivers side) for the 7 pin trailer hitch (back-up lights) fix. |
