I have those ugly rubber floor mats in my Ridgeline. Are those the standard mats, or should I have the carpet ones? If you have the rubber ones, do you like them and why?

The rubber mats are standard equipment. Carpet mats are an optional accessory. Initially I thought about getting the carpet mats, but now I think I'm just going to stick with the rubber mats. They look fine, it is a truck after all, and best of all they just work. Carpet mats get stained, matted down, impregnated with dirt/salt/sand and usually don't last much longer than a few years looking nice. I expect the rubber mats will hold up much longer and they won't stain and will be very easy to clean (just pull'em out and spray'em down).

I like the standard mats for the same reason as coolcat. I do not need carpeted mats in my truck. These will wash off easy, but if you want the carpeted mat get them. They look nice. I have virgin rubber mats over the carpeted mats in both of my other cars. They save the carpet and work best for me.

I'll probably keep the rubber ones until they start to look worn, which I would guess will happen pretty quickly. They'll get scuffed, scraped, and otherwise abused, and then I'll replace them. For now, they look ok.

What Coolcat says. Again, this is my wife's car..and if Mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy. Fortunately she likes 'em rubber floormats for the same reasons.

Just keep wiping them down and they last a bit longer.

My standard issue rubber mats are sitting in the garage gathering dust. I have the carpeted mats in my Ridge. They look great, have a great Ridgeline metallic logo and have a heavier nap than typical carpet mats. One suggestion on how to protect these mats, especially from the heel dragging that occurs when you shift your foot from the gas to the break pedal: buy some heavy duty rubber mats that are usually sold in pairs for the BACK seat of cars. They are basically a square piece of rubber that protects the heel part of the mat while still allowing you to show off the neat Ridgeline logo. I've been doing this for years- the carpeted mats look good as new at trade-in time thanks to these rubber mats.

I want the carpet mats, but everyone I ask says they would keep the rubber ones! I guess it's up to me, not them. Wish I could get just the front ones for lots less (there I go being cheap again!) ;)

It may be differend where you live (well - actually, it is :) ), but here in CO, I found it better just to have all-weather mats. When I bought my Pilot, it came with the carpet mats and I added the all-weather mats - placing them on top of the carpet mats. I NEVER removed them in the two+ years I owned the Pilot.

YMMV

The worst thing that happens to mats in my area is getting sand on them and having to shake them out once in a while! No snow, salt, or other bad stuff to cause any serious problems. Carpet mats can last a long, long time here. The most common problem is wearing them out with your heel.

This is the first vehicle I have had in a long time that I have not had to buy rubber mats to cover the cloth ones. That's one of the first things I have done for years. I was very pleased to see the vinyl mat. Saved me a hundred dollars and I just wash them off when they get dirty. Snow, mud and other things tent to discolor the cloth ones here. When I get rid of my vehicles I take out the vinyl ones and it looks new inside. There seem to be two very different opinions on this issue

I definitely agree with using the rubber mats in areas where they are needed to keep the interior looking good....just glad I don't have that problem!

i think these are some of the best looking rubber mats i've seen. i have the two tone beige leather and i think it actually looks classy. i also have a pilot and replaced the carpeted mats with honda's rubber mats. they're nice quality but only come in black. because the ridge was designed to have rubber mats from the beginning, honda paid more attention to the details. they're not bulky looking imho.

I took the driver's mat out today and hosed it down. I was very surprised how badly worn and stained it is already! I didn't try too hard to get the stains off, just tried a towel and it didn't work. Now I have ugly rubber mats with black stains...oh, well!

Black would look fine in my Green Ridgeline. I wonder what the price of rubber mats is?!
