I bought and installed the underseat storage system Friday. Quite impressed! Easy install and fits well - plus appears to be very functional.

Sounds like a nice feature, but I like to be able to fold the seats up to make room for large boxes. Can the underseat storage be easily removed?

I'm looking at the underseat storage tray myself, its more of a floor mat for under the seat. That way I don't have to mess around with removing it if I want to fold the seats up for large items.

Yes, there are two knurled knobs (one on each end) that are easily removed and the storage bin can be lifted out.

It only takes about 10 minutes to install. All you need is a razor blade (to cut small slits in the carpet) and the appropriate size socket for two bolts. The slit locations in the carpet are all ready pre-marked.

Colorider, what slits? We didn't cut anything with our underseat storage system. The brackets just slip under the back moulding and we tightened the knobs. The thing that took the longest was getting it out of the box.

We bought the storage system as a back support to the dog deck we just built four our poochies.

Don't your brackets fit like this? There is an small outline in the carpet to show you where to cut.

No, we didn't put them in that way, but it's probably the way they are intended to fit. Sometimes we don't follow directions, though I didn't see any with the unit. I'll have to take another look to see why we didn't do it your way. We just put a part of the bracket up under the moulding just above where your bracket is sitting. Once the knob is tightened it holds it in place. It gives a little play but would not let the box tip forward. I'll try and post a pic to show how we set them up. What we've done will work fine for our purposes. With our doggie deck on top of it, that box isn't going anywhere.

Tempted,
Yes - snap a picture if possible. From what you describe, it may be that the bracket is installed in a way that prohibits the tray from sitting properly.

Good Luck!

This is the way we had the bracket and then it was attached to the tray with the knob. The tray sat just fine, but there was a bit of play. I bought the tray to avoid making back leg supports for our doggie deck and to stash things in that could stay under the seat if we took human passengers. With the deck attached the tray won't move. Since you posted photos, we now have the brackets installed correctly, though not with the clean cuts you were able to make. My hubby is a get the job done kind of guy and he pulled more carpet out of the way, making a U shaped tear. He said it just tore easily. I would have eased the bracket in under the 3 corner cut, but he took over the tools and the job from me. At least it's in a place that won't be seen.

Here's our bracket for comparison so you can see what a less clean install looks like. There's quite a bit of material to cut through behind the carpet.
