This section is Dear Honda, right? So, Dear Honda: What do I do about my wind noise? And, Dear Honda: (I refer to my original question) Why would you supply a half ton pick-up with a bicycle size spare? Please replace my spare with a full size.
It's worth a try. |

| In regards to the spare tire, didn't you look at the truck and its features before you bought it? Hopefully your dealer can address the wind noise issue. |

Sure I looked in the trunk. It wasn't a deal stopper. But that's not the point. The point is; this is a truck not a minivan. What other truck manufacturer supplies a mini spare? I wouldn't expect less from Honda. Thanks for you concern re: wind noise |

| OK. I wasn't trying to sound sarcastic. I thought maybe you didn't realize it when you bought it and were now angry. I definitely agree a full size spare is the best even if hopefully you will never need it. 8) |

Everyone has their own opinion on spare tires, but wanted to point out one thing on the RidgeLine spare that some may not realize. Although it is a "funny spare", it is FULL diameter which reduces many of the concerns some people have with using a funny spare on an AWD/4WD vehicle. IMHO, I prefer the idea of a funny spare as it reduces weight and saves space (in the case of the RidgeLine - it allows you to place the jack/etc on top of the spare). Unless you intend to perform a 5-tire rotation, it's all about that rare occasion when you need to use the spare.
Just my $.02

| I do not need a full sized spare but if I was going off-roading I would want one. would not like to be out in the boonies and have one go flat. Other than that I agree that the weight and space offsets the negative. It is the first truck I have seen that does not come with a full sized spare. I am sure there are others but I don't know which ones  |

| Well lets say this - at least Honda thought to allow enough room for a full size spare in the same location. I intend to get a full size spare and its not big deal for me. |

| I would like to have a full-size spare, but it's not on the top of my list at this time. It will rocket to the top as soon as I get a trailer hitch! |

When I get my hitch (in about a week), the FS spare will be the same place it is now - at the bottom of the list. Heck, not EVEN on the list!!
YMMV |

| Back to the wind noise -- now that I've been made aware of this problem, I hear wind noise every time I drive this truck! Is the 'problem' real bad (i.e. is the noise so bad you can't just chalk it up as 'normal'?) I can hear wind noise, but it doesn't cause me any concern except for the fact that I read about it here! Am I the victim of the power of suggestion? |

| Bigtars -- can you describe the noise? Is it so loud you can't listen to, say, soft jazz while driving, or is it just an annoyance? Mine isn't so bad that it drives me nuts or anything, and I don't thing I'd have noticed it if it were not for this thread! |

| I think it's fine. The wind noise I hear I would chalk up to normal, and wouldn't have thought about it if not for these forums. Now I find myself turning off the radio just trying to evaluate the wind noise I hear and wondering if it's normal. The truck is really very quiet. Mabey I'll stop in a lexus dealer and take a luxury sedan for a spin and compare. |

| Ridge - its funny you say that. I was driving home from work on the highway and turned off the radio to listen today. I was doing 75 and the Ridge is sure quiet, like my old Camry. I here a wind noise but I have to assume that others where there is a problem it must be very obvious. How quiet can it get. 8) |

| That's kind of how I feel. If I have to turn off the radio to 'listen' for the problem, then maybe it's not a problem. My concern is this, will is get worse over time and if it does will I notice it getting gradually worse? |

Yeah, I guess that would be good too. : -) I was just thinking it would be good to know how quiet one of the best luxury rides are just for comparison.
Scientifically, I guess you'd want a decibel meter and actually measure it with an instrument rather than subjective and biased ears. |
