When I'm facing up a hill and in Drive, the ridgeline will roll backwards.
And when I'm in Reverse and facing downhill the Ridgeline will roll forwards.
I'm used to an Automatic transmission that prevents this. Was this an
intentional design feature or is it a flaw? Seams the behavior is Manual
Transmission like in this respect.
Just curious. Thanks.

It's "normal" for the transmission used in the Pilot and the RidgeLine (perhaps the Ody as well). |

Some automatic transmissions hold their place while in gear and some do not. My Jeep will roll in gear on a hill and my Dakota will not. I would say there is no specific do or don't on this subject.

A vehicle that'll hold itself on a hill at idle will probably creep more/faster on level ground, requiring harder braking to keep it still. In everyday driving a vehicle that behaves like the Ridgeline would be better in my opinion, not as fatiguing keeping it still at the red lights.

I noticed the same thing on my wife's Civic. I don't think there is anything wrong with it, as others have stated, it makes it easier to keep still at idle (not on hills)

My mdx rolled, but my Ridgeline doesn't. I have a pretty steep driveway, and I noticed today that it holds just fine when facing uphill. Haven't tested it the other way.
