My brother suggested that I look into putting a Flowmaster muffler on my Ridgeline to give it a more aggressive sound. I think thats probably a good idea. I'm wondering if anyone else has thought about this or even done it already? I'll probably stop in at a local performance exhaust shop when I get a chance and talk to them about it. I haven't taken a look yet, but I'd imagine that the stock muffler has a small section of pipe in front of it that bolts to the rest of the pipes. If so, I think it'd be best to remove the stock muffler completely and fabricate a whole new rear section for the new muffler to attach to so that everything can be put back to stock if need be (like when the lease ends!).

I just keep thinking how cool it would look with a big chrome tip

I read that the exhaust system was tuned to have a deeper more V8 sound. Messing with it may change this tuning and end up with something completly different - Have you heard a v6 aka S-10 pickup with a flowmaster, its not pretty.

DoctorJ, in the video I saw of the chief engineer for the Ridgeline he was explaining how they tuned it to get what they thought was a tough sound out of it. I think that it sounds good when you're really into the throttle, that's probably what he was talking about. Honda V6s usually sound pretty nice with aftermarket exhaust on them, but one of the reasons I want to make it reversible is so that if it comes out not sounding so great I can just go back to stock.

I'm thinking that a crosscut chrome tailpipe would look pretty cool on the Ridgeline. I don't want to do anything that'll look like it came off a Civic, its definitely got to have a tough truck look to it.

What about a dual output muffler and run two tail pipes each with a chrome tip?

I was surprised Honda didn't use this same system as the Pilot and (older) MDX. They look sharp with the two chrome tips - although I MUCH prefer the new MDX with the actual dual-exhaust.

I believe they went with a single, larger exhaust pipe, as opposed to the Pilot's "dual tip" to look more like a true truck exhaust. I like the looks of the current exhaust, but I think chrome exhaust pipes out of each side would look nice!!!

When I was at the dealer I test drove one that had a TRD aftermarket exhaust installed on it, I guess the guy that bought it couldn't get financed so the dealer took it back, but when he bought it he had the honda dealership install the exhaust. It sounded terrible, a high buzzing lawnmower sound, even the dealer was embarrassed when we were driving, and he explained to me they don't usually sound like that. So I don't recommend messing with the stock exhaust at all.

TRD does stand for Toyota Racing Development. The exhaust installed on that Ridgeline must have been the TuRD exhaust....

Yeah, it was a TRD toyota exhaust installed on it, and the dealer was charging an extra 1400 dollars for it :?

I would be extremely surprised if TRD made a system for the Ridgeline. Possiblly something modified from another application.

I just put in a single flowmaster in my new Ridgline. I would highly suggest for any one to do it. It makes the truck sound great.

AWESOME!!! Can you post pictures? Maybe a sound file of what it sounds like now? Do you have a digital camera that can take video?

What's the model number and size of the muffler that you put on? Did you have it done at a shop or did you do it yourself? Is it welded on or clamped? Did you make a new cat-back pipe or just cut the muffler off?

Sorry for all the questions, I'm just really really REALLY interested!

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum!!! Can you describe "great"? Throaty? Or does it sound like one of the ricers with the tomato juice can exhaust tips?

What series Flowmaster? 30, 40, 50 , 60, or 70? 30's are loud, 70's are really tame.....just wondering which you went with.
