Word on the street is....if Honda sells all 50,000 Ridgelines this year...a V8 and an extended bed is on the shelf for next year...

Take it for what it's worth

If Honda started out as a V8 6.5 ft bed. supercrew. I would not have purchased the Ridge. Although I am extreemly impressed with the buld quality (first Honda). Toyota has done well with the full size Tundra.

Might be a good rumor....

They're also saying that it may come in different models, similar to the Accord. Like being able to get the RTL (w/w-out navi) with cloth.

But I guess they the consumers to see what people like and don't like.

I took a long hard look under the hood of the Ridgeline, and there is no way that a V8 (tranny, etc...) would reasonably fit in the engine compartment.

I would not want a 6.5 ft bed. It would make the Ridge too long and too hard to park in tight spots. I have no problem with the five foot bed and I have hauled sheetrock and other 8 ft loads. Only thing I saw was the backup camera gives a rather wierd view, but with the tailgate down that I could see fine. At to the V8, I don't think one is needed but would probably get one if it was offered since I always seem to want the most power available. Gas being what it is however I might think twice. Ridge has good pickup I feel. If I want speed, I will drive the Vette. :)

NAV without having to hard load one would be a great idea. I think they would sell even more NAV but it so such a hot option right now they probably could not keep up so that may be why it is set up this way and they may expand availability when they can. Good idea however

I agree on the 6 1/2' bed. The only way I would want one is with an extended cab (versus the crew cab). The problem with extended cabs is they are typically not suited to hauling PEOPLE. Otherwise that extra 12 to 18" is just too long. I really like the 5' foot bed!!

YMMV

I too think that this rumor would never fly. First a 6' bed would make it almost impossible to park in your garage. I have a difficult time with it as is! Secondly, to my knowledge, Honda does not have a V-8 to put into the truck. And, I don't think that they would go to the trouble to engineer a V-8 for just one vehicle (too expensive). They did all of the market research before entering the truck market and I think that they got it right the first time. Honda never intended for this truck to compete with the large V-8 powered trucks that are out there. So, again this rumor is just that, rumor.

I agree on what you said about the 6' bed. I can barely fit my ridge in my one car garage. THANK GOD!!! And secondly, it is too expensive to make a V-8 ridge to get maybe 30+ more horses compared to the Tundra. I also think they did do their homework on the market about what consumers want. Especially, the in-bed truck, that's a cool feature. My wife can fit herself inside the in-truck without any problem. HAHAHA!!! She shows to everyone she can. That's COOL!!!
No weird ideas though.... :)

besides, there is lots of room for improvement in the current V6. I'm sure they could easily get it up around 300HP if the market called for it. If they could up the towing to 6 or 7K pounds, without making it bigger, that would be nice.
But I like the double cab, it's another storage place when I go on long trips. Or haul groceries.

Honda will have a V8, they are working on it now. It will be a small V8 4.0 maybe 4.3.

Strange since recently Honda announced that they were dropping all work on a V8 engine. What is the source of your rumor?
