Hi to all. I discovered this site today and decided to join up. I don't actually have a Ridgeline yet but should soon. I already know I want an RTL w/sunroof (nav not essential), so it's mostly a matter of choosing a color (leaning toward red). The purchase could come this weekend.

Wait till you see the Red, you may change you mind, my favorite color is Red, but the red that the ridgeline comes in is a bit different.

One of my few criticisms of the Ridgeline is that the color selections are all pretty bland. I prefer bright colors, but none are available. That won't keep me from buying one, but still...

This would actually surprise me since they left it off the color chart even though they all ready offer it for virtually all other models. I would actually expect a dark blue offering next.

I love the color selection -- dark blue would be a nice addition! 8)

You might take a look at a unit with NAV and play with a little. It is a great feature. Not trying to tell you what to do but I was not going to get it at first but I am so glad I did. Just my .02 worth. By the way, I love the redSmartfish wrote (View Post): › docWrite("quote")Hi to all. I discovered this site today and decided to join up. I could've used the nav on my last trip! I had a AAA trip tik printout and the directions were horrendous! I also had my little hand-held Garmin eTrax GPS and it helped more than the AAA directions...I wonder how good the nav would've been for road closures/detours in rural Wisconsin and Iowa?!

It will allow you to detour - as will any good aftermarket GPS. Mt 2610 works great for traveling - but I DO like the NAV on the RidgeLine even better.

YMMV

By allowing me to detour does that mean that it will tell me where the detour goes, or just let me manually detour and use the nav as an electronic map? I think the reason the AAA directions were so bad at the detour point is because the AAA directions were giving me an old detour that was recently changed due to expanded construction...just my guess, but I'd also guess that the honda nav could be more up to date if it's getting info from anyplace other than the dvd -- I've seen Acura RL adds that talk about live traffic updates, does the Honda Nav have anything like that or is it just a map?

On the OEM one you can select how to route you - avoiding different types of roads, etc. The 2610 is similar. If you are on a detour, it wil recalculate to get you back to your original route. If you know of road construction ahead of time, you can enter this information as an "avoid".

All-in-all, I don't think I could ever go back to "just maps"!!!

I'm starting to wonder if I made a mistake not getting the Nav. Wonder if my dealer would be interested in letting me 'trade up!'

You would probably take a big hit to JUST trade up for the NAV - but hard to say. Maybe give it a year and see. In the meantime, I can highly recommend the Garmin 2610 unit. No voice command, but is does have touch screen and a very fast processor.

I might just install my mac mini with a touch screen and nav software. I have used my laptop with a portable gps with mapping software on the laptop and it worked real good.
