Great article CR-V. Some comments:
This article was from the Detroit news, so it's no surprise they have a Big 3 slant. It is very logical that import trucks do not sell against the American brands because, mostly because you are comparing apples to oranges. Toyota and Nissan like to think they have offered a full-size truck, but truthfully they are not full sized. They are more 7/8 size. When you compare the Tacoma to the Dakota or the Colorado, I would bet you see Toyota leading the sales in that league. The author never visited Southern California, where import pickups sell a much larger percentage than their American counterparts. Honda may still have some catching up to do, but it you cannot compare it to an F-150. It is a completely different animal. The article makes the point that the cost is high for the Ridgeline, and that's true. But the technology and engineering put into it is far more advanced and worth every penny. |
