It is pricey but I don't see many mid-sized pickups you can compare it to. Mine seems to have about the same room inside as my AV did, but I havn't checked the numbers. I have taken a few trips in the last few months and I have seen Ridges at every dealership I have passed. I think Honda needs to let people know just what is better in the Ridges. The Adds I have seen don't do that. I agree, however that I am happy which mine and would purchase it again.

I'm happy as well with the RidgeLine. I don't hear anyone complaining about the price of a comparable Pilot and when you compare feature for feature of the RidgeLine to the Pilot, you are getting MUCH more for the $$.

So true colorider, folks here at work bought a pilot one month before I bought the Ridge. They never knew Honda was making a truck. The Ridge had not hit the lot yet and the dealer never mentioned it. They would have waited, thought I must have payed more after looking my truck over. I guess Its in the eye of the beholder what they want to compare prices with. I personally feel I am driving a better truck (for $20,000 less) than the cadillac ESV..... SO THERE!!! :D :D :D

My previous vehicle was a Pilot EX-L (no NAV). When I went through the numbers for what a new Pilot EX-L w/NAV, towing package AND coolers - the RidgeLine was within something like $100. Then when you factor in the FAR better tires, more safety features, etc, etc. the RidgeLine is a clear winner (IMNSHO).

Looks like you beat me to the punch, CRV. I was just about to post this article.

I remember some threads about rebates and how it would drive resale down. I bet this is the same thing here. Since I plan to keep my Ridge a long time, I don't worry about it much except in case of an accident. If my insurance company has to total this truck, I want it to have enough to give me a down on my next one.

It also call to mind another question: if Honda has to lower the price on its truck, will current owners be getting a rebate check?

Yeah, right!

For the record, I still do not regret buying my Ridgeline. 8)

Case in point: GM vehicles have crappy resale value. One BIG reason is all the rebates.

No thanks - I'll stick with my RidgeLine!!

And it's a better pickup. And most people on the site know this, but I was selling GMs when I bought the Ridge. Sold GM for 23 years, but could not make myself buy one over the Ridge. Obviously I didn't think it was too high.

I think we all agree that the RL is a better pickup, but it sure doesn't look too good when the President of American Honda publicly admits the price of the RL may be too high.

A rebate check to current loyal owners would be greatly appreciated and a nice bonus.

What happens to those who bought if they lower the price by a decent percentage? (Probably nothing but its worth a question)

If the price is too high, they'll lower it next year. In the meantime, I love my Ridgeline and don't really care what it cost me! I saw a ford explorer commercial on tv last -- over $31k after all incentives, for a ford explorer! I'd rather have the Ridgeline...note that I'm not actually comparing the Ridgeline to an explorer, it's just the most recent example of pricing I could think of 8)

I think part of the problem is the evolution of the pickup. Many people have a hard time shelling out $30k for a mid-size pickup. What they may not realize is how DIFFERENT this pickup is. I even have a hard time calling it a pickup. It is definitely a crossover vehicle that does many, many things well. Being the first of its kind in so many areas, unless you actually check one out and drive it, you couldn't really begin to understand how unique it really is.

Also, if all a person wants is low price, then there's tons of choices out there. I don't want to sound elitist, but the Ridgeline is a honda, and to me that accounts for the higher price -- in my book it's worth it! 8)

Sometimes the price of quality and reliabilty is a little more. But what does it get you?

*Consumer Reports top rating for pick-ups (July, 2005).
*5 star crash test rating(front and side) by NHTSA (first ever for a full
cab pick-up truck).
*A unique truck that rides like a dream.
* Car and Driver's pick! Car & Driver

We could go on and on....

So maybe they will lower the price next year...or Honda is worried about the 'employee discount' deals, showing that the others are desparate.

I got what I paid for with no regrets.......the best truck on the road. Period.
